The Verso Paper Corp. operation in Sartell (MN) may have been brought to its knees with Monday’s explosion and fire, but there was perhaps a growing feeling today that it hasn’t been put down for the count. The mill, which has been producing paper for 105 years, has been indefinitely idled by Monday’s events that resulted in the death of 50-year-old employee Jon Maus of Albany and injuries to several others.
“This is mainly a finished paper warehouse that we’ve had on fire,” (Sartell Fire Chief Ken ) Heim said. “It’s not the (coated) paper-making process.”
