The Océ Colorado 1640 printer, from Canon Solutions America, Large Format Solutions - LFS, will be spotlighted. With top speeds of 1,710 sq. ft./hr., this 64˝, roll-to-roll printer has been designed for high-quality indoor and outdoor applications. Users will be able to easily handle high volumes and peak production periods with automation, including the automated media loading of multiple online rolls. The Océ Colorado 1640 printer features on-the-fly quality assurance that enables printing without operator intervention. It can also produce instantly cured prints on a wide variety of media, including heat-sensitive media.
Under the theme “Vision 20/20,” Komori America will showcase its Impremia IS29 sheetfed UV inkjet printing system. Equipped with UV technology, the IS29 does not require pre-coated paper and can print on standard offset substrates from 60-lb. paper to 18-pt. board. With a resolution of 1,200 dpi, the IS29 runs at 3,000 sph in straight mode and 1,500 sph in perfecting mode.
The Insignia7 larger-format diecutter, from Rollem International, will be shown for the first time. This flexo-magnetic diecutter offers the largest sheet size in its class with a 30x24˝ capacity, and is ideal for finishing output from offset and HP Indigo 10000 and 30000 digital presses. Visitors will see various applications, including eight-up diecut, kiss-cut gift tag sheets and kiss-cut label sheets.
Ricoh USA will be showcasing its Pro VC40000 continuous-feed inkjet platform, which is designed to deliver an enhanced color experience. The Ricoh TotalFlow Print Server R600A, its DFE, delivers advanced workflow management that makes producing complex, data-driven direct mail and transactional output easier than before. Separate black and color printhead arrays allow cost-effective color and monochrome printing. The Ricoh Pro VC40000 can print at speeds of 120 mpm and can print on various media up to 250 gsm.
The new Versant family of presses, from Xerox Corp., adds enhanced automation features to maximize uptime, reduce waste, deliver faster turnaround times and expand application opportunities. Printing on stocks up to 350 gsm, the Xerox Versant 180 press prints at speeds up to 80 ppm, while the Xerox Versant 3100 press prints at speeds up to 100 ppm. The Versant line also features in-line automation tools such as a full-bleed bookletmaker, square-fold trimmer and other finishing tools. The presses can handle everything from trimmed marketing collateral to full-bleed magazines on a range of media types and sizes, from envelopes to 26˝ printed banners.
The Acuity 3200R superwide-format printer from Fujifilm North America, Graphic Systems Div.The new Acuity 3200R superwide-format printer, from Fujifilm North America, Graphic Systems Div., is a dedicated roll, LED-UV cured printer that is ideal for a wide range of flexible media substrates. The printer offers maximum productivity in its CMYK configuration plus minimal energy usage. Users can double efficiency by tapping into the twin roll printing function with two 60˝ media rolls. The Acuity LED 3200R saves time, media and ink on backlit applications using a high-density mode and LED lightbox for proofing while printing. Media capability allows a single roll up to 220 lbs. Overnight operation can be worry-free with the 3-liter ink tank bulk system, and the Nozzle Check Unit in conjunction with the Nozzle Recovery system, assures defect-free prints.
KBA North America will promote its KBA-Iberica I-Press 106 K diecutter, which is well-suited for the packaging market. Users can diecut numerous types of substrates including paper, plastic, board and corrugated material. The I-Press can be equipped with the new OPMR (Optical Print Mark Register) for the front and side-lays registration. It also features a fully automatic non-stop feeder and a full logistics system that completely removes the manual handling of incoming and outgoing piles.
The new Truepress Jet L350UV+ LM inkjet system, from Screen GP Americas, opens up additional applications for label converters producing food package labels. Featuring low-migration (low-permeability) inks, and a nitrogen purge mechanism that accelerates the curing of UV inks, it delivers smooth gradations and sharp detail with thin ink lay down at a top speed of 173.2 sq.ft./m. and accommodating web widths up to 13.7˝. A low-temperature chill roller can be added to enable printing on thin film materials used with PET bottle wrappers.
Xanté Corp. will be showcasing the Impressia digital multi-media press with the patented Enterprise High Speed Feed System that is ideal for envelope printing. It offers an affordable solution for minimal to full-coverage envelope printing (less than 1¢ per full-color envelope), higher resolution (up to 2,400 dpi), and higher print speeds (up to 78 full-color envelopes/min.). This complete turn-key solution meets the demand for fast, full-color letterhead, cards, envelopes, NCR multi-part forms, brochures, mailers, labels, banners and more.
ACTEGA North America will highlight its newest specialty coating, MotionCoat, which gives the illusion of movement on printed pieces without the need for any special equipment. It offers an alternative to lenticular, micro engraving and micro motion effects, and can be used on paper, plastic, film or foil substrates.
4over Inc. will show its PrinterBridge web-to-print solution that provides an expanded library of print offerings through a completely customizable, fully functioning online storefront. Customers can configure the product options and control the markups. Users can also manage sales performance, while growing their customer base and market visibility.
Avanti’s Slingshot Mail and Postage Accounting module takes out the guesswork and extra labor from mail distribution processess. From postage estimating to mail drop management to postage expense reconciliation, Avanti Slingshot reduces the effort required to consolidate postage receipts, payments and reporting. The module tracks allow the user to view and analyze mailing activities by account, department, project or postal class, and users can generate postage reports based on a specific date range for a customer.
The SureColor P5000 Commercial Edition with SpectroProofer, from Epson America, will debut. The 17˝ production printer features a 10-channel PrecisionCore TFP printhead with new ink-repellant surface coating, improved dust and static control, and printless nozzle checks. Leveraging the SpectroProofer, it automates profile creation, optimization and verification tasks for simplified proofing.
The MBM Aerocut Prime Complete finishing system is suited for short-run, digital applications. The air-suction top feeding system easily feeds coated, digital, gloss and other stocks. The Aerocut Prime Complete has the capability to perforate stocks, both across and along feeding. Lytrod software is included to simplify the task of formatting, imposing and adding personalized information to documents for fast cutting on the Aerocut Prime.
Spiel Associates will be highlighting its Sterling DigiBinder Plus fully-automated PUR perfect binder. The book size, the clamp, with an integrated jogger, and the nipper adjust automatically. The glue is applied by a nozzle connected to a pressurized tank with separate nozzles for side gluing. Cleanup is only five minutes at the end of the run. The PUR Plus also includes an automatic cover feeder with two double scoring wheels for hinge scoring. The Sterling DigiBinder can bind books at speeds of up to 500 books/hr., up to 2˝ thick.
The VITS Express rotary cutter will debut. Specifically designed for direct mail and general commercial printers in the digital, inkjet web market, the Express cutter offers full bleed and chop cut, single or multi-stream, reduced makeready, quick knife setup and variable cut lengths. Users can run finished direct mail pieces, cut sheets or full press sheets. Designed for in-line or near-line operation, the Express cutter can be interfaced with either new or existing equipment.
The Printware iJetColorPro is a high-speed, industrial envelope printer that is powered by Memjet technology. The bundle includes everything a printer needs to print full-color, personalized envelopes, direct mail and short-run letterhead in volumes from one to 10,000. With its industrial vacuum belt, the system can print full-color filled or unfilled envelopes from 1˝ to 12˝ wide, and up to 1˝ thick, at speeds approaching 10,000+/hr.
Solimar Systems will be highlighting its Automated Rolling Mail Aggregation Service (ARMAS). It will automatically ingest Jobs, assign properties and place them into rolling queues monitored by the automated batching process. The benefit is optimal runs for production printers, especially inkjet, and an automated and trackable process to gain significant postal savings.
manroland web systems will be highlighting the new Varioman package printing press. With the combination of variable sleeve offset printing units, a corona treatment, EB or UV drying, and gravure printing units with dryers, film can be printed in high quality and variability, and job changes can be carried out quickly. Offset sleeve technology on the Varioman reproduces high-printing quality with a less expensive cost-per-copy.
Mutoh America will display the ValueJet 626UF tabletop, LED-UV, flatbed printer that can print on a variety of materials, including 3D objects, up to 5.9˝ thick with Mutoh’s 100% solid LED-UV ink and optional rotary printing attachment. It comes standard with Mutoh Edition FlexiSign and Print RIP software, printer stand and vacuum table. Users can print directly to create custom promotional items, awards, mugs, signage and more. It offers up to six-color capability, including white and varnish ink.
The W+D HALM iJet, from W+D North America, is a five-color inkjet envelope overprint press. Four-color CMYK plus one spot color Memjet production-class inkjet technology prints up to 32,000 #10 envelopes/hr. at 1,600x1,375 dpi on industry standard 24-lb. white wove paper stocks, making it an ideal choice for short-run corner cut envelope overprinting.
THERM-O-TYPE will highlight its RDC-Flex rotary diecutter that can now in-line strip more complex diecut products using fixed and programmable stripper fingers — individually or in combination for maximum flexibility. Programmable stripper fingers are controlled using a touchscreen computer and stripping information can be stored and retrieved by the operator.Features include: ease of operation, accuracy, high-capacity feeder, quick changeover, in-line stripping, extended delivery conveyor and batch delivery.
Tecnau is exhibiting its new WebVision ONspect, a new hardware platform for the WebVision quality monitoring system for high-speed continuous digital printing. The ONspect cabinet is placed immediately in front of Tecnau’s Rewinder r9 and features a greatly reduced footprint. Because ONspect relies on Rewinder r9 to drive the web, no motors are required, resulting in a lower price. WebVision enables automated analysis of data integrity, image quality and workflow processes through an array of testing functions grouped in software packages.
The JFX200-2513 UV wide-format flatbed printer, available from Mimaki USA, is a 4x8-ft., landscape-oriented model that is small enough to fit into most print shops. With the capability to print on thick substrates, it is designed for both indoor and outdoor use. Applications include packaging prototyping, backlit displays, signs and posters, interior décor, glass and metal decorative panels and more. White and clear inks, plus jettable primer, are available.
GTI Graphic Technology will highlight its iQ soft proofing technology that is available on EVS and VPI viewing stations, and on overhead luminaires. An iQ viewing system takes the question out of your luminance match and replaces it with repeatable accuracy based on a specially designed light sensor, the iQ. The handheld iQ light sensor wirelessly communicates with an iQ-enabled viewing station and captures the brightness level of the monitor. This data is automatically communicated to the iQ viewing station where it is used to calibrate the light level of the viewing station to achieve an optimal match to the luminosity of the monitor.
PrintJobManager, from Aleyant, is an estimating, pricing and production management solution that allows users to create their selling price from material, equipment and labor costs. This enables instant pricing for orders, whether through online stores or via mobile device on a sales call. Pricing information is then pushed automatically to Pressero, a B2B and public B2C online storefront solution. When an order is placed in Pressero, it is automatically pushed into PrintJobManager, helping users manage their job production, including time-tracking capabilities. Aleyant tFLOW, an automated prepress, approval and collaboration workflow solution, can auto-receive files via Pressero.
The The Challenge Machinery Co. 330TC three-knife book trimmer is a fully automated system for on-demand, perfect-bound book trimming. Some of the new features of the CMT 330TC include: a 10.5˝ color touchscreen interface, high-speed digital control that provides setups in under six seconds, a 1D/2D barcode reading system that enables fully automated setups, and simultaneous in-line and near-line book feeding options. Finished book sizes range from 5.88x3.94˝ to 12.1x12.9˝ wide.
The KAMA FlexFold 52 finishing solution for digitally printed folded cartons, will be shown by Absolute Printing Equipment. It has the capacity to produce 150 different folding jobs per day, with run lengths of 12 to 150 boxes with different shapes and sizes.
Colter & Peterson will showcase three new machines: the E-Cut series, a new economy line of paper cutters, and its premier brand lines, demonstrating a new 45˝ Saber with automated knife adjustment and a 31˝ Prism paper cutter — both of these machines will include the Microcut PLUS automated electronics package with a 15˝ programmable touchscreen.
GMC Software will showcase GMC Inspire Designer, a solution for creating, managing and delivering customer communications across multiple channels. GMC Inspire Designer, as part of GMC Inspire, integrates with a print service provider’s core systems, enabling rapid repurposing of existing print-based content to create digital communications. The solution features an omnichannel preview that can simultaneously display on one screen the print, Web, tablet and mobile versions of the communication for quicker testing and compliance.
Crawford Technologies will show its PRO Preference Manager, a flexible, standalone solution for automating customer preference management for all types of multi-channel communications, including print, digital, mobile, Web and ADA accessible formats. With open APIs and complete flexibility, it can be integrated with other business processes and customized for any organization’s internal and customer requirements. It also easily allows users to manage even the most demanding channel preference requests.
EFI will debut its EFI Fiery FS300 Pro DFE — a product for cut-sheet, high-speed continuous-feed inkjet, B1 folding carton, and corrugated digital production systems using new Fiery system software. New makeready features on the DFE help simplify imposition layout creation and automation setup, making it easier for users to create new layout templates and automate job imposition. The DFE includes a Fiery QuickTouch touchscreen display for intuitive system installation, backup, and diagnosis, plus easy access and faster viewing of job status information.
Making its North American debut at the show, Standard Finishing Systems will demonstrate the Standard Horizon StitchLiner Mark III. The system features an expanded booklet size and increased productivity up to 6,000 booklets/hr., delivering higher-quality booklets with greater efficiency, even for variable stitch length and variable page count booklets. Fully automated setup enables a wider range of applications, including landscape-size booklets, 12x12˝ calendars and pocket booklets.
