I doubt very seriously that you have given much thought to the new year as of yet. Neither have I. Still, I have a suggestion for you...
Make it a goal to attend at least one Conference in 2016. They are expensive and time-consuming and take you away from home and work, but if you choose wisely and prepare for them, they can be a tremendously beneficial activity and your ROI will contain lots of R.
Do you belong to a trade association? Check out their local, regional and national events.
How about a user’s group? Here is a gathering of a bunch of people who have solved problems that you are facing. That sure seems like a good investment of time and money.
What about an industry that you are considering expanding into? There’s the ISA and SGIA shows if you are interested in signage and wide-format printing. The promotional products shows (ASI and PPAI) will remind you a lot of Halloween as you walk the floor with plastic bags and people fill them up with lots of goodies (hint: pack light and bring extra luggage!).
Finally, do you belong to a franchise? If so, attend their conference. That one is a virtual no-brainer, missed only by people with virtually no brains.
Personally, I will add a plug for Dscoop (Indigo User Group). There have been 10, and I have attended three or four. They never disappoint!
Imagine an opportunity to learn and explore while marinating in answers to your many questions. Put that opportunity in a large, loud room in either Orlando or Las Vegas and you’ve got your first 'to do' list item for 2016!
