A social media profile isn’t just for social media.
Creating a good social media profile brings a whole load of benefits that most people don’t think of. Work on the right profile and you’ll gain a lot of advantages for you and your business.
Here are five to start you off:
It forces you to think about your sales message and offering
A good social media profile is not about you: it is about the people who find you. How can you help them? Why should they find out more about you and your company? If you can answer this in your social media profile, then you have a good commercial offering for all your other sales channels as well.
You gain prospects
If you set your social media profile up in the right way, you are likely to be found. You may have never heard of the people who visit your profile. But, if you have created the right sales message and offering, your visitors likely want to find out about you. I find that many interesting people reach out to me on a regular basis. Many of these contacts lead to profitable business.
Your profile is a sales channel
Used in the right way, your social media profile can be a powerful way to win warm prospects. Once you have created the right relationship with people you connect with on social media you will be able to move many of them into your real life sales channels. As you will find out in an e-mail you will receive shortly, these sorts of prospects are more likely to convert and they will convert more quickly.
It promotes you personally
As we saw in my previous article, a personal brand can be very useful. The right social media profile helps increase your industry standing, improve your chances of career progression as well as winning you clients that will stay loyal to you rather than your company.
You grow a useful network
Not all your social media connections should be regarded as sales prospects. I have many types of social media connection. Some have become friends. Others have helped promote me in the print industry or have found me new clients or have helped with business advice.
Are you achieving these results from your social media profile?
Have a look at your social media presence and see if it says the right things to help you realize these goals.
