Following the triumph of deeming printing an “essential” business, or within the supporting supply chain of essential businesses, many printing facilities are remaining open amid their state’s mandatory “Shelter in Place” Orders. The Department of Labor (DOL) has issued posters explaining the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) and the impacts it will have on employees that must be hung in the workplace.
The FFCRA requires certain employers to provide their employees with paid sick leave and expanded family and medical leave for specified reasons related to COVID-19. These provisions will apply from April 1, 2020 through December 31, 2020. DOL is mandating that all functioning businesses hang informational posters in their facilities in a place that all employees have access to from April 2 to the end of the year 2020.
The purpose behind this is to ensure employees are informed of this regulation and are able to determine if they are covered under it and what opportunities they are being given.
