How do you ensure your Christmas cards create the right impression? Here are my seven rules:
Rule 1: Print your Christmas cards well. It can’t be that difficult to make this job a priority quality control target.
Rule 2: Sign your cards – by hand. Make me feel that you care…
Rule 3: Send your cards to the right person. My name is Matthew. Not Ian, as one printer addressed my card last year.
Rule 4: Make sure your personalisation is right. The name on the card should match the name on the envelope. It’s another quality control area to focus on
Rule 5: Avoid personalised snow cliches. I have seen my name spelt out in the snow more times than I care to remember. Please don’t make me suffer any more.
Rule 6: Show off unusual printing techniques. I’d love to be inspired by your cards rather than feeling that they’ve been overseen by the cost control police
Rule 7: Add cake or chocolate. Please!
These rules may seem obvious. But you would be surprised at the number of printing companies who fail on this list. Most of the time they don’t just fail on one point: they fail on several.
What would you add to my list? Please add your thoughts in the comments section below.
