Get in the Wheelbarrow

"Blondin" was the most famous tightrope walker of all time!

In 1859 he became the first man to walk across Niagara Falls on a tightrope. He later planned to attempt crossing over the majestic Falls on a tightrope, but this time, pushing a wheelbarrow.

It is told that, after one of his crossings, Blondin ask his audience, "Do you believe I can carry a person across in a wheelbarrow?"

"Yes," the astonished audience responded enthusiastically, "You are the greatest tightrope walker in the world. We believe you can do it!"

It's reported that Blondin said, "Who wants to get into the wheelbarrow?"

But, as the story goes, NO ONE volunteered at that time!

In 1994, after reading a book by Michael Gerber about organizing a business through systemization, to the level of a McDonald's franchise, I was inspired, to say the least. At the same time, I had some doubt that is was possible, especially in the printing industry. I thought, "We’re manufacturing, and they’re just making stupid hamburgers!"

I was working long hours trying to make things better for me and my employees, but no matter how hard we tried, it seemed we were going backwards.

After reading other books about those who attempted and successfully made this ride over "the abyss of chaos,” that is present in many small businesses, I finally made the decision to also trust a more systemized way of dealing with it. I needed to "get in the wheelbarrow."

I took that journey to a land free of chaos and confusion and made it! I even had time to tell about that ride in my own book.
