U.S. Senator Cory Booker—a Democrat from New Jersey—has introduced the Postal Innovation Act, which calls upon the United States Postal Service (USPS) to use "more cost-efficient and environmentally friendly technology" for its vehicles, and also explore "the economic benefits of non-postal services."
In a statement issued on Friday (July 24) Senator Booker commented, "At a time when budgets are tight, it is in our best interest to find creative ways to make prudent investments that improve safety, reduce the carbon footprint of postal vehicles, and save taxpayers money. The Postal Innovation Act will help the Postal Service identify efficient and innovative technologies to better serve Americans."
