After years of printing weekly newspaper circulars and direct-mail pieces for a 1,100-store grocery chain, Quad/Graphics Inc. demonstrated its growing prowess in marketing services to win the grocer’s $40 million digital advertising account.
It’s one example Joel Quadracci likes to cite to counter headlines like this one in the Milwaukee Business Journal from December 2020: “Citing declining print volumes, Quad/Graphics closes three more plants.” The Sussex-based company has morphed in recent years into much more than the commercial printing colossus founded by Joel’s late father Harry Quadracci even as the younger Quadracci hasn’t given up on print.
