Sir Speedy of Naperville/Oak Brook, Illinois, Celebrates 30th Year as Family-Owned
NAPERVILLE and OAK BROOK, Ill.—October 13, 2015—Kent and Julie Phillips, owners of Sir Speedy Printing in Naperville and Oak Brook, are pleased to announce the celebration of their 30-year anniversary in business. As one of the longest-running, family-owned businesses in the Sir Speedy franchise network, Kent and Julie recently renewed their franchise agreement for another 10 years.

As a young man, Kent was introduced to the print industry by his father who also worked in the industry. In his early years, Kent worked for a Sir Speedy in Aurora, Illinois, before joining the corporate headquarters of Sir Speedy. After a few years of working with franchisees in training and new store openings, he and Julie decided to purchase their own franchise, which they have owned for 30 years.
“As technology has evolved over the years, so have the products and services we offer our customers. As a small business, our ability to adapt to the changing needs of our clientele has been our greatest advantage,” said Kent.
He continued, “My father would be proud to see his grandson also working in the printing industry. Our son, Kyle Phillips, has been in the business for 10 years. He is the next generation to continue our legacy. Kyle brings a renewed energy with fresh insights and a keen ability to embrace new technology. His youthful approach to doing business will impact our ability to excel in our local marketplace.”
Julie added, "There are many benefits to being part of a franchise, especially since we have seen the decline of so many competing print shops. We are continually being challenged to remain relevant to our customers. The executive team at the Sir Speedy Corporate headquarters provides direction, which helps us maintain a clear vision for our future. As a result, we are better equipped to incorporate new technology and deliver more advanced products and services to support our customers in achieving their business objectives.”
Although technology upgrades play an important role in the success of the Phillips’ business, they quickly acknowledge that a dedicated team of reliable employees is paramount.
“We have one employee who has been with us for 23 years and one for six years,” Julie explained. “As we move forward in the next 10 years, we know these employees are the key to our continued growth.”
