Accolades for SCREEN’s Truepress Jet520HD, SC Inks, Continue to Multiply
ROLLING MEADOWS, Ill. - March 5, 2018 - The game-changing technology of SCREEN’s Truepress Jet520HD high-speed, roll-fed inkjet press and the company’s companion SC Inks, continues to draw applause from the global printing industry. The most recent acclaim is a 2018 technology award just bestowed on SCREEN Graphic Solutions Co., Ltd., in Kyoto, from the Japanese Society of Printing Science and Technology (JSPST).
The JSPST presents the awards each year to recognize technologies that have made an outstanding contribution to the growth of the printing industry or to the development of applications for other fields. In making its selection, the JSPST considers the level of innovation, progress, marketability and expandability shown by each technology. This recent recognition adds to the growing worldwide admiration for SCREEN’s technological prowess.
The Truepress Jet520HD high-definition inkjet web press has become SCREEN’s flagship model. One of the attributes that helps set it apart from other production inkjet presses in the market is its ability to print, using SCREEN’s specially developed SC inks, directly on coated papers traditionally used for offset printing. This preserves the inherent, desirable texture of offset paper surfaces for a higher quality look and finish - often a requisite of increasingly demanding customers.
“This recognition in Japan reflects what our local market has been telling us since we launched SC Ink over a year ago,” explained Ken Ingram, SCREEN Americas’ VP of sales and marketing. “Production class inkjet needs to print to the same standard offset coated papers that the high quality direct mail and commercial print markets are accustomed to - but this is a very challenging engineering problem to solve. Still, our customers don’t want to compromise and that’s why SCREEN took an aggressive approach in getting this solution to market over a year ago because we were confident in our proven history of real world, production inkjet problem-solving. Our head start has paid off for our customers this last year and we are seeing them hit their stride now.”
The Screen Truepress Jet520HD user can avoid the higher cost of purchasing and inventorying separate supplies of treated inkjet stocks needed for conventional inkjet printers. “Add to that the accrued benefit of higher quality, higher productivity and increased customer satisfaction,” Ingram said, “and the 520HD and SC Inks can significantly contribute to increased business potential and market opportunities previously unattainable with conventional inkjet production.”
The Truepress Jet520HD is equipped with 1,200 dpi high-resolution inkjet printheads that effectively deliver the rich color gamut, detail, vibrancy and depth required for high-quality publishing and commercial printing. The press enables the achievement of superior image quality approaching offset printing at industry-leading speeds while cutting lead times and costs. Thanks to these advantages, both products have been rapidly adopted by companies around the world for use in the publishing, commercial printing and direct mail markets.
The JSPST award complements SCREEN’s 2017 banner year when it also took home two prestigious honors at the PRINT 17 trade show sponsored by Printing Industries of America (PIA), held in Chicago. PIA, the United States’ largest graphic arts trade association, selected SCREEN’s Truepress Jet520HD and another of its inkjet models for 2017 InterTech Technology Awards presented at the major show where the SCREEN technologies were also named as PRINT 17 “Must See ‘Ems.”
SCREEN Americas also turned heads and captured print executives’ full attention at Inkjet Summit 2017 when it was officially named the event’s “Company to Watch Out For.” Attendees at the fifth annual summit held at Ponte Vedra Inn & Club in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, heard numerous case studies in direct mail, transactional and commercial print, and chose SCREEN over other finalists for the award.
Corresponding to SCREEN’s rise in popularity and reputation, Tidewater Direct, a direct mail components supplier to direct mail marketers, purchased the Truepress Jet520HD and SC inks to achieve the quality it needs for the company’s high-end publication and commercial work. “We haven’t seen anything that comes close to the technology that the SCREEN Truepress 520HD and SC inks have to offer,” said Executive VP Geoff Eisenberg from Tidewater’s headquarters in Maryland.
Kathy Pescetti, owner of Admail West, a full-service marketing firm based in California, purchased the Truepress Jet520HD and SC Inks to stay ahead of the pack. “Our philosophy has always been to be the first in the marketplace to bring in appropriate technology. You need SCREEN’s efficiencies to be competitive and to meet the challenges of today's market. SCREEN’s products fit in well with where our industry is heading,” Pescetti said. “In our experience, the Truepress Jet520HD and SC Inks, are top of the line.”
She continued, “Financially, going with SCREEN has been a benefit for our company, and it has given us the opportunity to hire four new sales people who are thrilled. The company’s been rejuvenated and we see good things ahead.”
