COSTA MESA—ColorGraphics has moved into a new 40,000-square-foot facility, doubling the size of the plant previously located in nearby Tustin. It has also added an eight-color Mitsubishi press.
OXNARD—Custom Printing has installed a four-color Mitsubishi Diamond 3000S with aqueous tower coater, an eight-up thermal computer-to-plate (CTP) device and a PDF-based workflow management system at its new 30,000-square-foot facility. It has also donated 52 cases of premium paper to its new neighbor, Rose Avenue School.

GRAND JUNCTION—Colorado Printing recently added a 10-color Heidelberg Speedmaster SM 102 perfector to increase capacity. Founded in 1947, Colorado Printing boasts approximately $15 million in sales and houses more than 100 employees.

AUBURNDALE—To better serve the on-demand color printing market, M&M Printing & Graphics has purchased a four-color Kodak Polychrome DirectPress DI press.
STUART—Southeastern Printing's sales and customer service personnel celebrated Benjamin Franklin's 300th birthday during its weekly sales meeting, complete with party hats, Franklin info packets and a cake featuring Benjamin's portrait. Known as "the father of American printing," Franklin was born in Boston January 17, 1706. Roger Butler, sales manager at Southeastern, reminded attendees that "despite Ben's many achievements and remarkable talents, he referred to himself in his will and his self-composed epitaph simply as 'Benjamin Franklin, printer.' We're grateful to him for establishing a noble and honorable profession that continues to flourish today," Butler noted.

WEST CHICAGO—Graphix Products has completed the installation of the CD replication and duplication equipment acquired during the acquisition of Beta Graphics in Aurora, IL. This move integrates into one facility all of the production lines: CD replication, offset, flexography, digital printing, promotional products, mailing and fulfillment.

MONROE—TriStar Graphics Group, a mid-size general commercial printer with plants in Monroe and Lafayette, is now running a new four-color Speedmaster SM 52 sheetfed press. The shop also added a Prosetter 52 and the Prinect Printready system with MetaDimension, making the jump from film processing to a computer-to-plate system.

BALTIMORE—Rainbow Printing of Maryland, a full-service offset litho-grapher, is adding two presses to its 36,000-square-foot facility. According to Owner Joe Cavey, a new six-color, 20x28´´ Komori press with in-line coater was running by mid-January, closely followed by a mid-March launch of a new four-color, 20x28´´ Komori perfecting press.

DAVISBURG—Michigan Web Press, a printer of inserts and college newspapers, purchased a Kodak Trendsetter News 100 thermal CTP device, a Nela PL-T plateloader, Kodak Thermalnews plates, Kodak Prinergy Evo PDF processor, Kodak Preps software, Kodak Staccato screening software and Kodak InSite software.

ST. PAUL—Impressions Inc. has finished the installation of two new presses—seven-color Heidelberg Speedmaster SM74s with 5/2 perfecting and aqueous coating capabilities.

TOTOWA—Custom Index reports it has purchased the index division of Quality Indexing, which includes the Never Jam copier tab product line. Custom Index, a manufacturer of indexes, legal dividers and file folder products, will move the Quality operation into its 128,000-square-foot facility here.

OKLAHOMA CITY—Southwestern Stationery & Bank Supply, a printing, furniture and office/bank supply company, has invested approximately $5.5 million in its new eight-color (4/4) Mitsubishi 3000R Double Diamond convertible perfector press and prepress and postpress support equipment.
TULSA—Diversa-Graphics Inc. has put a new Mitsubishi Diamond 3000LX sheetfed press into operation. The high-end printer and folding carton manufacturer installed a six-color, 40" machine with an in-line UV coating system.
pennsylvania
CHALFONT—Vertis announced that its Chalfont direct marketing facility celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2005. The plant has expanded to more than 700 employees and produces one billion direct mail pieces annually.
PITTSBURGH—In November, First Impression Printing installed a four-color Mitsubishi Diamond 3000R with tower coater. The 40" convertible perfector affords First Impression increased capacity and capabilities.

DALLAS—The Dallas Morning News has selected Prim Hall to provide two FSI packaging systems with 76 hoppers each for its new South Plant, which will be operational in early 2007. The Prim Hall collators will be completely integrated, servo driven, FSI packaging systems including Enternet controls, Sitma polywrappers, Rima stackers, as well as multiple printing and labeling subsystems.
