CARLSBAD—The Iris Group is now running a new six-color Komori Lithrone S40 perfector with coater.
NORTH HOLLYWOOD—New in the prepress area at G2 Graphic Systems is a Fujifilm Quattro scanner, PictroProof II contone proofer and FinalProof GxT digital contract proofer, along with a Rampage workflow. The company also added a Xerox DocuColor iGen3 digital production press, as well as Fujifilm plates, in the pressroom.
SANTA CLARA—PrintPapa has acquired KirkPrint, a commercial printing company based in Sunnyvale, CA. The new owners, Paul and Shawn Nag, report the recent addition of a two-color Ryobi 3302 press. PrintPapa also has digital and large-format printing capabilities.
Colorado
GRAND JUNCTION—The Colorado Printing Co. announced it will be moving into a new facility in the second quarter of 2006. The new building will increase production space from 33,000 to 140,000 square feet. The company also will install two new 10-color, 40˝ Heidelberg perfecting presses. The total investment, including the building and equipment, will exceed $10 million.
LITTLETON—A new six-color Komori Lithrone 28 with coater has been installed at CPI Card Group.
Florida
CLEARWATER—Roberts Printing reported a 25 percent increase in productivity and substantial quality improvements resulting from the recent addition of a six-color Heidelberg Speedmaster CD 74 perfecting press with Axis Control and aqueous coating to its all-Heidelberg pressroom.
FORT MYERS—The Breeze Corp. has purchased 20 units of the DGM 430 press (configured as four four-highs and two two-highs, and two DGM 1035 folders) at its new facility here. The new DGM pressline will be used to print weekly tabloids and commercial work.
Georgia
CLAXTON—Claxton Office Supply & Printing has added a new Heidelberg Printmaster PM 52 to its shop for production of two- and four-color print jobs. This new press was installed alongside a two-color Heidelberg Printmaster QM 46 and a Duosetter.
Idaho
PRESTON—Bear River Publishing has purchased a DGM 440 four-high and one DGM 1035 folder. The company prints the Logan Herald Journal, Idaho State Journal and Rexburg Standard Journal newspapers. The new DGM 440 press will, however, be primarily used to run UV inks and insert work.
Illinois
Bedford Park—A new Goss C550 insert press will enable Atlantic Press to target customers in the retail industry. The purchase of a four-unit Goss C550 heatset press with a 21˝ cutoff is part of the printer’s ongoing expansion, and was installed in July. The company has also invested in a Goss C700 folder.
HARVEY—Andrews Printing has added a four-color Heidelberg Printmaster PM 52 to its pressroom. Founded in 1948, Andrews Printing is a family owned and operated shop specializing in quick printing and mid-size format work.
Maryland
BALTIMORE—Victor Graphics has purchased SmartLinc’s SmartShip application as an integrated shipping solution to centralize shipping/distribution operations and provide real-time shipping information.
BURTONSVILLE—Technifold USA reports the sale of its 2,500th Tri-Creaser to Westland Printers, a Consolidated Graphics company located here.
New Jersey
CARLSTADT—Pictorial Offset and Integrated Imaging Corp. (IIC) have formed a strategic business alliance that will offer IIC customers complete “design to destination” services. IIC is a graphic enterprise that is minority certified by New York, New Jersey and the National Minority Supplier Development Council.
VOORHEES—AFL Web Printing has purchased one DGM 430 four-high tower addition. The press is used for publication printing. This sale brings the total units of DGM presses that AFL runs to 38 units. AFL plans to install a remote inking system to all of its DGM units in the near future.
New York
HAMBURG—Gateway Printing & Graphics has installed a five-color Komori Lithrone 28 with coater.
NEW YORK CITY—Fresh Media Group, a premedia services company based in London, and 291 Digital, a New York-based premedia and print services company, have formed a transatlantic partnership.
Ohio
Cleveland—Eveready Printing, a 105-year-old, four-generation family business, has added an eight-color Heidelberg Speedmaster 74 with double perfecting, coater and extended delivery.
EASTLAKE—Officials at Modern International Graphics announced the corporation has entered into a stock redemption agreement with Eric Rubin, COO. Rubin left the company in July.
Oregon
PORTLAND—Lasko Printing has purchased a five-color Heidelberg Speedmaster 52 with coater. In addition, it’s in the process of installing an Agfa CTP system with ApogeeX workflow.
Pennsylvania
HIGHSPIRE—GANCOM recently held an open house at its 107,000-square-foot facility to showcase the capabilities of its new Xerox DocuColor 6060 digital color press.
Tennessee
Johnson City—Ad-Mat International Coasters has installed a four-color, 51˝ KBA Rapida 130 sheetfed press. It joins two other KBA presses.
MEMPHIS—Toof Commercial Printing has initiated a joint venture with Flexeprint, an Internet-based print management and print procurement company headquartered in Nottingham, England, to supply the North American market.
Texas
DALLAS—Jay Kay Press has installed a Mitsubishi Diamond 3000S sheetfed press. The six-color, 40˝ press is equipped with an aqueous coater.
HOUSTON—Newspaper publisher Greensheet has won a contract to print and distribute The New York Times national edition in Houston. The Times will be printed on Greensheet’s upgraded Goss Magnum press.
Virginia
CHANTILLY—Clark’s Litho has installed a two-color Heidelberg Speedmaster CD 74 press with high-pile delivery and the Prinect CP2000 Center. Founded in 1993, Clark’s Litho is a mid-sized, privately owned general commercial printer with 15 employees.
Wisconsin
MEQUON—Ed Bristol Advertising and Printing has installed a Sakurai offset perfector. The machine was purchased from Best Graphics.
