Perfector Finds Home at Village Press
TRAVERSE CITY, MI—A four-over-four, 41˝ KBA Rapida 105 sheetfed long perfector press is now in operation at Village Press. It is equipped with a roll-to-sheet feeder.
Printer's Press Prayers Answered
NAMPA, ID—A new six-color, 41˝ MAN Roland 700 sheetfed perfector with in-line coating has been installed at the Pacific Press Publishing Association (PPPA), one of the main publishers and print providers for the Seventh-Day Adventist Church.

HUNTSVILLE—White Tiger Graphics recently relocated to a larger facility to better serve customers in the CD and DVD industries. The expanded facility increases the size of the commercial printing plant to 45,000 square feet and allows the company to expand its prepress facility and office space. In addition to the relocation, the company's name has changed to White Tiger Printing and Media Packaging.

CERRITOS—Penn Litho & Fulfillment has ordered a new Beiren 3840 web offset press from Graphic Innovators. The six-unit, one-web shaftless press will have gluing, perfing, folding and sheeting capabilities.
HUNTINGTON BEACH—Taylor Graphics, a 22-employee trade printer, recently enhanced its sheetfed capabilities with the installation of an automated six-color, 40˝ Mitsubishi Diamond 3000S press. It is Taylor Graphics' second Mitsubishi press, joining a six-color, 28˝ Model 1F-15 in operation since 2001.
NAPA—Fryes Printing reports it has transferred from film to a CTP workflow by adding a Heidelberg Prosetter 74 platesetter with imposition software and proofing to its prepress department.

DENVER—Cottrell Printing's digital expansion continues with the installation of Riteonline print ordering software from Screen (USA). It is integrated into Cottrell Printing's prepress workflow, which is built around Screen's Trueflow workflow management system and PlateRite 4100 six-up thermal platesetter.

Cartersville—Arco Ideas & Design recently added a Heidelberg Quicksetter 300E to its prepress department. With the new system, the shop now reports running four-color work such as tri-fold brochures, note cards and book covers. Arco Ideas & Design is a family owned and operated commercial printer that has been in business for more than 25 years.
Marietta—Color Spectrum Network, a manufacturer of printed folding cartons, has added a seven-color Heidelberg Speedmaster CD 102 press with coater, extended delivery and ultra-violet (UV) capabilities. It supplements a six-color Speedmaster CD 102 installed in 2003.

CHICAGO—Bruce Jensen and Gail Ludewig of TotalWorks Inc. accepted the "Friends of the Year" award at the ninth annual Top Hat Ball, a benefit for Marklund, a non-profit network of services for infants, children and adults with developmental disabilities. TotalWorks has supported Marklund for many years by donating printing services including letterhead, reports, brochures and invitations.
Decatur—Dynagraphics Inc. has added a two-color Heidelberg Printmaster QM 46 press in order to increase productivity and automation within the family owned shop.

Des Moines—Litho Graphics has purchased the Riteportal customer relationship management tool from Screen (USA). It allows a content creator to prepare and automatically upload certified PDF files to Litho Graphics' Riteportal server. Litho Graphics was founded in 1976 and houses 25 employees at its 12,000-square-foot facility.

NORTH CHELMSFORD—Courier Corp. reports its book manufacturing sales were up 8 percent for the first quarter of its 2005 fiscal year, with strong textbook demand contributing to a 20 percent increase in four-color printing sales. In Courier's specialty book publishing segment, sales were up 13 percent, which is attributable to the company's January 2004 acquisition of the Research & Education Association (REA).

MINNEAPOLIS—The equipment list at Reflections has expanded recently with the addition of a Xerox DocuColor 6060 digital press; Xerox DocuColor 6100 digital press; 45˝ Itotec RC-115 programmable cutter; VideoJet 7000 ink-jet system; VideoJet Chesire TLS tabber/labler; BCC 2010 Mail Manager software; six-station Bell & Howell inserter; and 12-station Bell & Howell inserter.

Livingston—A two-color Heidelberg GTO has been purchased by PrintingForLess.com. Currently, the company is using the new press to produce customized brochures and to train new employees. Founded in 1996, PrintingForLess.com is a privately owned, online full-color printing service with 115 employees.

RENO—Goss International has received an order from the Gannett Co. for two Goss Uniliner towers for its Goss Metro press at The Reno Gazette-Journal to meet the growing demand for color output. Once the installation is complete in September, The Reno Gazette-Journal will be able to print 56 pages of full color in an 80-page publication, an increase from its current 24-page color capacity.

ELMWOOD PARK—A new four-color Halm Jet EM4000 press with an integrated UV dryer has been installed at Reliable Envelope & Graphics. It now enables the company to print high-end four-color work on pre-converted envelopes.

Lafayette—Macore Co. recently installed a Kawahara TXR-800 series automatic blank separator, distributed by Brandtjen & Kluge. The TXR-800 will allow the label, card and poster production company to blank or separate labels, door hangers and similar products.

Latrobe—In 2004, Unity Printing celebrated its 25th anniversary. This year, the company is accelerating its expansion by adding a five-color MAN Roland 500 press complete with in-line coating, Power Plate Loading (PPL) and PECOM automation. The printer will also deploy MAN Roland's printnet digital backbone, which will eventually enable the company to interconnect all production functions with a management information system.
MONACA—Datatel Resources has installed the ANSI-approved RDM Image Qualifier system at its facility here to provide the basis for ongoing testing to ensure compliance with "Check 21" regulations.

Brownsville—Border Press has installed a four-color Heidelberg Printmaster PM 52 perfector. The shop added the new press in order to meet growing customer demand for four-color work. Currently, Border Press is using the new press to print packaging materials, brochures, four-color envelopes and letterhead. The shop recently produced 10,000 five-signature program booklets in one day on the new press.

Appleton—The Paper Discovery Center opened its doors to the public in February, and a formal grand opening event is planned for early this month. After years of planning, the historic Atlas Mill has been transformed into Northeast Wisconsin's only science and technology museum. Visitors can explore the world of paper through interactive exhibits and can even make their own paper.
Fort Atkinson—To achieve greater VOC destruction efficiency and help reduce energy costs, heatset web printer W.D. Hoard and Sons has installed a 10,000 SCFM regenerative thermal oxidizer from The CMM Group.
Menomonee Falls—Litho-Craft Co. has added the Screen (USA) Riteonline online customer ordering system at its LC Digital Imaging Center.
