RIVERSIDE—Daily newspaper The Press-Enterprise has installed a Goss Magnapak packaging system with 42 stations and dual delivery capability. The system also utilizes an integrated MultiDisc winder/unwinder storage system from Ferag and Packman stackers from Quipp. Omnizone supervisory and downstream software bundle controls were supplied with the Magnapak system.

GRAND JUNCTION—Colorado Printing has been using EFI PrinterSite Internal integrated with EFI Hagen OA to realize increased efficiency and reduced operating costs. PrinterSite Internal provides field sales personnel and customer service reps with secure, direct access to submit quote requests and obtain job status data.

Panama City—Freedom Communications' Florida division has ordered a 28-unit Goss Universal 45 press to be installed at its plant here to print The News Herald. This order was placed following the 2003 installation of a Goss Universal press at its sister newspaper, The Monitor, based in McAllen, TX.

ADDISON—Singles Plus Printing has installed a Prime IR Action Dryer System in the extended delivery after the coating unit on its new Ryobi 750C-XL sheetfed press. The system allows Singles Plus to dry aqueous coatings at press speeds up to 15,000 sph.
CHICAGO—Heidelberg recently installed an eight-color Speedmaster CD 102 press with coater and extended delivery at Quantum Color Graphics. The new press replaces a six-color Speedmaster CD 102 that was purchased in 1994.
East Dundee—Hi-Kaliber has purchased a new four-color Sakurai 466SIP 2661 sheetfed perfector from distributor Fuller Grafix.

Indianapolis—Hilltop Press, a division of National Graphics, will soon be operating a new six-color, 40˝ Komori Lithrone LS40 UV press equipped with IST lamping systems on all units. Hilltop is known for its printing capabilities on plastics, vinyl and lenticular substrates.

BALTIMORE—Members of the Printing & Imaging Industries of Maryland raised $26,000 during its annual charity auction benefiting Santa Claus Anonymous. Major contributing companies included K&W Finishing, E. John Schmitz & Sons, Advantage Book Binding, Cenveo, Baltimore Color Plate and Doloff Printing.

ADA—Falcon Printing has installed a certified Kluge EHD Series press at its facility here. Initially, the new equipment will allow Falcon to diecut miniature greeting cards. In the future, Falcon Printing plans to use the EHD press for foil stamping.
ZEELAND—Holland Litho Printing Service has signed an agreement to implement THE System business management software from CRC Information Systems.

St. CLOUD—Sentinel Printing celebrated its 150th anniversary with an open house that drew more than 250 guests. Three area authors were on hand to sign books that were produced on-site. The sheetfed and non-heatset web printing operation specializes in book manufacturing services.
ST. Paul—Larkin Industries recently installed a Kawahara TXR Series automatic blank separator. Distributed by Brandtjen and Kluge, Larkin purchased the TXR-1100 model that automatically blanks diecut sheets, accommodating 32x43˝ sheet sizes. In business since 1976, Larkin added the TXR-1100 to its existing range of finishing equipment, which includes five Kluge EHD Series presses and two Kluge WFE Web Flow presses.

BELLMAWR—Evergreen Printing & Publishing has purchased a press line from Dauphin Graphic Machines consisting of 32 DGM 440 units arranged in eight towers and two DGM folders, the DGM 1035 and the DGM 1240 with an upper former. The DGM 440 press will be installed in a new building expansion. Automation features include a remote ink control system with CIP3 ink presetting, closed-loop registration controls, 10 automatic flying pasters, as well as automated web cutoff controls.
NEWARK—The three managing partners of Pictorial Offset, Donald, Gary and Lester Samuels, were honored recently at the annual Community Foundation of New Jersey Corporate Philanthropy Awards ceremony held here. Pictorial Offset was an honoree in the health and environment category, and was also recognized for its contributions to education and the community.
SOUTH PLAINFIELD—Versatile Card Technology has begun running a six-color configuration of a 29˝ MAN Roland 500 press, complete with coater and full UV capabilities, at its VCT Qualteq Division located here.

HAUPPAUGE—New Horizon Graphics has installed an Iijima BFP1000S diecutting and embossing press to produce foil stamped, embossed and custom projects.
Long Island City—J&M Finishing recently installed a four-pocket Heidelberg Stitchmaster ST 270 saddlestitcher with cover feeder. It reportedly has increased overall production by 33 percent.
MOUNT VERNON—Rose Press has added a new six-color Heidelberg Speedmaster SM 74 perfector with coater and a B-20 folder. The general commercial printer also updated its bindery with a new knife unit.

CARY—Cary Printing has opened a second facility to accommodate growth in its fulfillment operation. The new space will house its fulfillment center and will be used to manage online ordering for print-on-demand services.
TABOR CITY—Atlantic Packaging has installed two Iijima BFP1000S presses to provide high-speed foil stamping, stripping and diecutting.

CHALFONT—Vertis announced the certification of its facility here by the Technology Asset Protection Association (TAPA) Security Standards, which has become a standard requirement for electronic industry manufacturers and warehousers.
CHARLEROI—Specialty Printing has installed a 6,000 SCFM regenerative thermal oxidizer from The CMM Group. Specializing in the printing of direct mail advertising, Specialty Printing currently operates three presses. Two of these presses, a Harris M-1000 and a Harris M-1000A, are full web presses and are connected to the new regenerative thermal oxidizer that is designed to improve emission control and save energy by reducing natural gas costs.
KING OF PRUSSIA—Direct mail insert printer International Business Systems is implementing THE System business management software from CRC Information Systems. International Business Systems will implement a fully integrated software solution.
TEXAS
DALLAS—A KBA 74 Karat digital offset waterless press is now in operation at Blanks Printing & Imaging. This is the first KBA 74 Karat press in the state of Texas. The firm plans to add a second 74 Karat this spring.

MEMPHIS—McFadden Communications, parent company of Starr-Toff Printing, announced a restructuring plan into two divisions. The company plans to grow its print business under the name Toff Commercial Printing and to expand its logistics offerings and warehousing operations under the name Starr Logistics.

CHESAPEAKE—AmeriComm has sold its list division, including its Fastlist, AList and ARMS brands, to Compact Information Systems. AmeriComm will continue to provide direct marketing services and support.
ROANOKE—Arkay Packaging will expand its operations in Botetourt County. Through an $11 million investment in its EastPark Commerce Center facility, the company will create 75 new jobs. Arkay considered sites in North Carolina and New York for the project.

PASCO—Press Craft Printing and Design is celebrating its 55th anniversary this month. The seven-employee shop specializes in two- and four-color work. David Freepons, Richard Harmon and Larry Maxwell are partners in the business.
west virginia
BECKLEY—Central Printing has installed a Heidelberg Speedmaster 74 press, a Prosetter CTP system and an HP proofer. The company has also added an eight-pocket Stitchmaster 100 with cover feeder for its bindery.
wisconsin
Delavan—Central Printing, a commercial printer founded in 1968, has announced a $300,000 expansion program that includes the installation of a new five-color Heidelberg GTO. In addition to expanding the press department, the company will also add a delivery truck and make upgrades within the prepress department and MIS department.
GREEN BAY—Van Lanen Printing has purchased a six-color, 40˝ MAN Roland 700 press with in-line aqueous coating capabilities. This is the first Roland 700 installed in the U.S. that is equipped with new digital automation features shown at Drupa.
RACINE—Tru Line Lithographing has installed a four-color, 41˝ KBA Rapida 105 sheetfed perfecting press.
