New Press Finds Home In New Jersey
HILLSBOROUGH, NJ—East Coast Media has installed a five-color, 28˝ Sakurai EDII press. It is fully automated with auto plate changers, ink rollers and blanket cleaners, and includes an SCC color console equipped with SAS, for auto sheet size preset, cylinder registration, and impression adjustment and setting. The press joins an existing two-color Sakurai perfector.
Supreme Installation Bound to Please
ARCADIA, WI—Full-service and specialty printer Supreme Graphics has purchased a Duplo System 4000 collator/bookletmaker from Best Graphics. A key part of its business is producing classroom texts, lesson planners and other books for schools.

SAN DIEGO—Brehm Communications has purchased eight DGM 430 units from Dauphin Graphic Machines as an add-on to an existing press line. Brehm Communications is a publications and commercial printer, and is using the new DGM press to print 14 publications, (three shoppers and 11 newspapers) including the Auburn Journal, a 13,000 circulation daily, the Roseville Press Tribune, a twice weekly, and the Placer Herald, California's oldest weekly newspaper with the original name.

FORT MYERS-Goss International reports that it has received an order from the Gannett Co. for a major tower addition press expansion project for its existing Goss Metro press lines used for The News-Press and USA Today at its plant here. The expansion project will involve the addition of four shaftless Goss Uni-liner four-high towers to two Goss Metro press lines. Each tower features the Goss Digital Inking system. At the same time the older Metro press equipment will be upgraded to a Goss digital inking MPCS press control system.

ATLANTA—Action Bindery has purchased a Nordson P.U.R. glue system, two James Burns automatic Wire-O binders, a 14˝ Kugler auto punch and a 12-pocket Ehlemann collator.
CRAWFORD—Greater Georgia Printers (GGP) has installed a DGM 430 four-high addition to complement its existing press line. GGP is a commercial and publications printer with both web and sheetfed capabilities. The DGM 430 provides color to the weekly newspapers and real estate mini-tabs that it currently prints.

BLUE ISLAND—Blue Island Newspaper Printing has installed a new Goss Community four-high press tower as a further expansion of its extensive print capacity. The new 22˝ cutoff tower takes to 60 the company's total number of Goss Community units.
CAROL STREAM—Digital printer Copresco has contracted with Canon Business Solutions for the purchase of four Heidelberg Digimaster digital presses. Within the past year, Copresco has installed a perfect binder, a three-knife trimmer, a second index tab system, edge reinforcing equipment and a stitcher.
SKOKIE—A new two-color Komori Lithrone 28 has been installed at Reliable Mail Service.

KALISPELL—Thomas Printing, a 41-year-old printer, has installed an automated 40˝ Mitsubishi Diamond 3000S sheetfed press with in-line aqueous coater. The five-color machine is Thomas Printing's first Mitsubishi press, as well as its first 40˝ press.

OMAHA—A three-tower Duplo System 4000 suction-feed collating/bookletmaking system with IMBF (Intelligent Multi-bin Feeder) option is now in operation at the in-plant printing facility for the Omaha Public Schools.

CLIFTON—Allstate Printing has added a five-color Komori Lithrone 28 sheetfed press to its equipment line-up.

GALLUP—The Gallup Independent has ordered a Goss Magnum press. Once installed, the press will be the largest single-width press in the state. The Gallup Independent publishes 18,000 copies of its daily newspaper, as well as a number of regional weeklies, shoppers and commercial work. The new press replaces an existing Goss Community.

Harrison—Following a successful pilot production period, RR Donnelley has gone live with its Inventory Management Solution (IMS), a digitally driven production line that manufactures soft cover books on an as-needed basis to reduce publishers' inventory costs. Developed by Nipson, Muller Martini, MBO, Shuttleworth and Hunkeler collaboratively with RR Donnelley, IMS can cost-effectively produce short runs of perfect-bound books, then change over in a matter of minutes to print, bind and box a new title.

KENT—Horvitz Newspapers has purchased eight DGM 430 units and a DGM 1035 folder from Dauphin Graphic Machines. The purchase replaced an older Goss Community press line. The new press line is being used for commercial printing only.

CHARLESTON—Color Craft Printing, a mid-sized commercial printer with a specialty in process color and bookletmaking, is now integrated for a seamless workflow with the recent installation of a six-color Heidelberg Speedmaster CD 74 sheetfed press, a Heidelberg Prinect PrintReady prepress system and a Prosetter platesetter.

MADISON—Widen Enterprises has been selected by Famous Footwear to provide prepress and printing services. Famous Footwear will use Widen's services for images and photographs used in much of its print media, its Website and in-store displays.
