JACKSONVILLE—The Relizon Co.'s St. Johns manufacturing plant here was awarded the company's first Safety Excellence Award for working 13 years (1.5 million hours) without an OSHA lost-time accident. The 37-person plant team was presented with a plaque recognizing their outstanding safety record, and each employee received an individual safety award.
MIAMI—Sweet Printing reports it has switched to using Base-Line Laser Direct plates on its ABDick 360 and 9840 presses. The company previously used silver-based polyester plates.
TAMPA—Newspaper Printing has installed a SDT scanning densitometer from Tobias Associates.

GAITHERSBURG—In November, Allentuck Printing & Graphics became part of Pioneer Press, based in Rockville, MD. As part of this merger, Allentuck Printing will close its doors, and move its operations to Pioneer's headquarters.

Chicopee—The Pond-Ekberg Co., has installed a new KBA 74 Karat digital offset press. This is Pond-Ekberg's third KBA press in less than seven years. The Karat is part of Pond-Ekberg's $2 million investment in new technology, facility renovations, and marketing initiatives. The new digital press was the focus of an open house, which featured a live band, and drew over 250 attendees.
MARLBORO—Reservoir Printing has completed installation of a new four-color Ryobi DI 3404 press. An open house followed to unveil the new digital press and highlight the woman-owned company's capabilities.

CHELSEA—Custom book manufacturer Sheridan Books has purchased a PUR (Polyurethane Reactive) adhesive system for its facility here. The PUR system will be used on all lay-flat bindings and projects with coated text stock for both adhesive case and adhesive paper covered products.
DETROIT—Inland Press has signed an agreement to implement CRC Information Systems' THE System business management software.
GRAND RAPIDS—Dekker Bookbinding has installed a new Kolbus 60 Compact Book Line in conjunction with a new Kolbus 270 Casemaker for hardbound books.

EAST SETAUKET—Printing Spectrum recently added a facility in Edinburg, TX, along the Rio Grande, which allows the company to provide printing support to companies headquartered on Long Island and assembling products in Mexico. Printing Spectrum reports that a number of Long Island companies are capitalizing on NAFTA by utilizing the Mexican labor force.
MASPETH—Shuttle Printing has installed a new DGM press with 13 units of the DGM 430, and one DGM 1035 folder. Shuttle Printing produces a combination of tabloids and Pennysavers.
PLAINVIEW—A new EPSON Stylus Pro 10600 UltraChrome printer is now producing color proofs at First Impressions Lithographic. The extra-wide, 44˝ format incorporates advanced ink, print head and printer engine technologies.

MECHANICSBURG, PA—An eight-color, two web Heidelberg Sunday 3000 press is set to be installed in a stack configuration at Fry Communications this spring.
PITTSBURGH—First Impression is now running an automated Mitsubishi Diamond 3000S sheetfed press. The six-color, 40˝ press is equipped with a tower coater, extended delivery, closed-loop color management and automated plate changing.
PITTSTON—A new Duplo DC-8/32 collator and DBM-120 bookletmaker have been installed at Zorgo Printing Service.
