American Printing Lands New Press
MADISON, WI—American Printing recently diversified its pressroom with the addition of an eight-color, 40˝ Mitsubishi Model 3F-16 sheetfed press.
CALIFORNIA
FOUNTAIN VALLEY—A new A.B.Dick DPM2340 direct-to-plate device is up and running at Brookhurst Printer. The company provides printing for medical groups and the banking, insurance and hospitality industries.
HUNTINGTON BEACH—Taylor Graphics, a general commercial printer with 12 employees, has purchased a five-color, 20x28˝ Mitsubishi Model 1F-15 sheetfed press.
SANTA FE SPRINGS—At The Dot Generator, a six-color, 28˝ Komori Lithrone press equipped with a ColorCommand temperature control/cooling system from TriService has been installed.
GEORGIA
ATLANTA—Geographics has completed the installation of the Sentinel ink management system from Accel Graphic Systems. The Sentinels were installed on a newly purchased 10-color, 40˝ Heidelberg Speedmaster 102 press and an existing six-color, 40˝ Komori L640.
ILLINOIS
CAROL STREAM—Copresco has installed a Xerox DocuColor 12 digital color press. Copresco also operates a DocuColor 2060 and five DocuTech 6180 machines.
GLENVIEW—Folio Press, a 32-year-old commercial printer, has moved to 4342 DiPaolo Center. Its in-house prepress team, Lightning Graphics, has moved here, as well.
SKOKIE—Triangle Printers has added the capabilities of a Creo Trendsetter 3244+s. The thermal platesetter has been combined to work with a Creo Brisque Impose digital front end, an Iris 43 WIDE double-sided imposition proofer and an Iris IPROOF digital proofing system.
INDIANA
BLOOMINGTON—E-book publishing services and print-on-demand provider 1stBooks Library announced it printed its 500,000th book in January. The company moved into larger facilities last year, and has signed an agreement with Lightning Source UK Ltd. to print and distribute all 1stBook titles within the United Kingdom.
MARYLAND
BELTSVILLE—In order to satisfy customer requests for direct-to-plate services, Todd Allan Printing has installed a Fujifilm Finalproof digital contract proofer and a Javelin thermal platesetter.
MINNESOTA
SAINT CLOUD—Merrill Corp. has installed a six-color, 28˝ Komori Lithrone press equipped with a ColorCommand temperature control/cooling system from TriService.
NEBRASKA
OMAHA—Catalog company Oriental Trading has installed FullPress, Xinet's server software package.
NEW JERSEY
MOUNTAINSIDE—Print Tech, a full-service quick commercial printer, has made two of its upper-level employees partners in the business. They are Christian J. Baker, business development director, and Gary J. Alessio, corporate sales director. The company has offices here, in Westfield and in Metuchen.
PENNSAUKEN—Bill Eachus, president of C&B Graphics, has announced the purchase of a six-color, 40˝ Mitsubishi Model 3F-13 sheetfed press with tower coater. It joins an existing eight-color, 40˝ Mitsubishi press. C&B Graphics is a commercial printer with 22 employees. It was founded in 1998 and operates from a 24,000-square-foot facility.
NEW YORK
NEW YORK CITY—Litho-Art Inc. has installed a six-color, 40˝ Mitsubishi Model 3F-13 sheetfed press at its new 24,000-square-foot facility. The company recently moved into vacant warehouse space in the same building on Varick Street in Manhattan it has been inhabiting for the past 40 years. Company President Joseph Cashman notes Litho-Art has signed a 15-year lease and transformed the space into a state-of-the-art printing plant from scratch.
WHITE PLAINS—Paxar Corp. has purchased the business and manufacturing assets of Lerma, Mexico-based Disenos De Coleccion (DDC) in a $16.5 million cash transaction. DDC, with approximately $10 million in annual sales, is a manufacturer of merchandising labels and tags for Mexican retailers and apparel manufacturers.
OHIO
CLEVELAND—Watt Printers has completed a 22,000-square-foot expansion of its facility, bringing the location to 64,000 square feet. The addition will be dedicated to Watt Printers' growing direct mail and fulfillment business. Watt Printers is a full-service, totally digital printer with 75 employees.
PENNSYLVANIA
CLAYSBURG—Digital and printed document provider NPC Inc. has been named "Employer of the Year" by the Martinsburg chapter of the Business and Professional Woman's Club. Of the approximately 400 employees at NPC, 177 are women.
TEXAS
DALLAS—The doors to Williamson Printing will soon be open once again to aspiring designers, advertising executives and printers, as the company gets ready to hold the Spring 2002 Williamson Institute. At the event, the basics of the commercial printing industry will be presented to students from Southern Methodist University, Texas Christian University, The University of North Texas and Baylor University. The two-day event will feature tours, guest speakers and networking opportunities.

RICHMOND—Carter Printing has purchased an Accel Sentinel ink management system for its new six-color, 40˝ Mitsubishi press.
WASHINGTON
SPOKANE—A Fujifilm Dart thermal platesetter and PictroProof unit has been installed at Johnston Printing. The proofing system has eliminated the need for customers to come to the plant for press OKs.
