CAROL STREAM—The Segerdahl Group and the United States Postal Service recently partnered to provide a behind-the-scenes tour for over 65 Chicago-area Segerdahl customers. The group was given an overview of the 500,000-square-foot facility, which moves 5.5 million pieces of mail daily. The company also showed its new Merlin mailing equipment.
HILLSIDE—Wallace Bruce Offset recently installed two Heidelberg M-600 presses as part of its $18 million capital improvement program. Each press is equipped with two roll stands, capable of delivering double web four-color signatures or an eight-color single web.
Schaumburg—Paddock Printing Center, The Daily Herald's new $50 million facility named after the family that founded and still runs the paper, provides 160,000 square feet of production space—room for two REGIOMAN presses from MAN Roland.

MINNETONKA—Wallace W. Carlson Co., based here, and Munson Printing, of Red Wing, MN, have joined forces to create a new organization. The expanded company will be headquartered at the Carlson facility. Both companies were founded in 1931.
SAINT PAUL—Impressions Inc. has purchased a six-color, 40˝ Heidelberg Speedmaster CD 102 press with coating unit and extended delivery.

SAINT LOUIS—Saint Louis Lithographing, a label and specialty packaging printer based here, has purchased an eight-color, 56˝ KBA Rapida 142 sheetfed press with in-line coating and UV drying capabilities. The press is scheduled to be delivered in late October 2003 and up and running in early December.

LANCASTER—Engle Printing and Publishing is preparing for the installation of a new Tensor T400BE series web press system. The 16-unit Tensor T400BE press and two Tensor H-50 jaw folders will be configured as four two-high arrangements and two four-high towers.
PITTSBURGH—Alliance Press currently has 20 printing units on its Goss Community press line, but has decided to upgrade the press with two additional four-high towers that will provide it with a total of 28 units. The installation is due to be completed this fall.

AUSTIN—Aus-Tex Printing and Mailing has beefed up its bindery capabilities with the installation of a new Bravo-T saddle stitching system from Muller Martini.

NEW BERLIN—The Printery, a commercial sheetfed printer, recently added two mailing production systems. The Videojet PrintMail WideArray system is designed to allow printing in four colors and addressing of variable data, as well as fixed text message blocks. The other mailing system recently acquired is a Videojet PrintPro digital printing system.
RACINE—Burlington Graphic Systems (BGS) announced that it is now employee-owned. Effective July 1, BGS implemented an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). The ESOP trust was established to purchase 30 percent of BGS shares from the owners, for the benefit of the employees. Owners Phil and Jamie Holtje reportedly will be donating all proceeds of the sale to a charitable trust.
