Digital Press Strengthens Partnership
CEDAR FALLS, IA—The joint purchase of a Kodak NexPress 2100 plus digital color press and Kodak NexGlosser unit has enabled Woolverton Printing and American Color Imaging to reach new customers in the photo services market. Since the installation, John Lynch, owner of commercial printer Woolverton Printing, and Mark Lane, owner of American Color Imaging, a professional photo lab, report they have strengthened their partnership and grown their businesses.
Press Added for Lenticular Work
FRESNO, CA—Big3D.com Worldwide has ordered a six-color MAN Roland 500 press with in-line coating and an extended delivery. The privately held company is a leader in lenticular and three-dimensional printing processes.
CALIFORNIA
GLENDALE—During Graph Expo, trade printer 4over Inc. announced the latest addition to its press arsenal, a 10-color Komori LS540SP Super Perfector equipped with a double coater. Established in 2001, the company has experienced triple-digit growth every year while operating 24/7.
LOS ANGELES—Aero Products Research (APR Industries), a producer of printed plastic advertising specialty products, has installed a five-color KBA Genius 52 UV waterless sheetfed press.
VISTA—An eight-color Komori Lithrone S40 with perfector (LS840P) and coater has been installed at Outreach Inc. This is the second Komori press for Outreach, a large provider of church communication products.
GEORGIA
ATLANTA—A fourth MAN Roland 700 press is destined for Tucker Castleberry Printing. The company has signed for a new six-color version of the 41˝ press, complete with in-line coater and an extended delivery. That configuration matches the company’s other three Roland 700s.
CUMMING—To support its growing business, The Graphic Edge has installed a four-color Heidelberg Speedmaster SM 52 perfector with high pile delivery and a Prosetter 52 platesetter.
ILLINOIS
AURORA—Freedom Graphic Systems has installed IBM’s latest Infoprint 4100 HD 5/6 production printer at its production facility here. It uses the Infoprint 4100 running Infoprint Manager software to print a wide variety of direct mail products.
DEERFIELD—Richard Biller, president of Production Services Associates, has received a patent for the company’s new “Multi-Up” card technology. This new production process embosses static information on individual cards in entire sheets.
HILLSIDE—Darwill has invested in a Maratek solvent recycling system designed to recycle water miscible waste solvent used in the company’s sheetfed operations.
MARYLAND
BALTIMORE—Whitmore Group has bolstered its operations with the addition of a six-color Heidelberg Speedmaster XL 105 press.
MARLOW HEIGHTS—Large U.S. government contract printer McDonald & Eudy Printers has installed a five-color, 23x29˝ Ryobi press with convertible perfecting capabilities and coater.
MICHIGAN
GRAND RAPIDS—Folding carton producer Caraustar has invested in a Drent Goebel VSOP web offset press. The machine has seven printing towers with one flexo unit and electron beam (EB) curing capabilities.
MINNESOTA
ST. CLOUD—Sakurai dealer Best Graphics has installed a Sakurai SIP press at Bankers Systems.
MISSOURI
FENTON—Creative Imaging is growing its self-publishing book business after it installed a Xerox iGen3 110 digital production press. At the current pace of growth, volume is expected to double by the end of the year.
NEW JERSEY
BURLINGTON—Barton & Cooney reports it has added packaging and fulfillment services to its product mix.
JERSEY CITY—CGI North America has developed AltSource 34, a single-source, automated document solution for “34 Act” regulatory reports.
NEW YORK
MIDDLETON—The Time Herald Record has purchased a Sakurai 466SIP plus coater from dealer Franklin Printer’s Supply.
ROME—Canterbury Press has acquired a new MAN Roland 700 perfector configured with eight units.
NORTH CAROLINA
APEX—Henry Wurst Inc.’s facility here was recently named the “Large Company of the Year” by the Apex Chamber of Commerce. In other news, the plant has adopted concentric and stochastic printing capabilities.
PENNSYLVANIA
LANCASTER—Tensor Group reports the installation of its newest single-width (40˝ wide) product offering at Engle Printing and Publishing. Two four-high towers of the T-500 press are being installed to provide four-color capabilities on a Goss Universal press.
SOUTH CAROLINA
BLUFFTON—The Island Packet has purchased two Agfa :Advantage DL violet platesetters with :Arkitex NewsDrive for a soon-to-be-complete production center. The Island Packet and The Beaufort Gazette will be printed in the new 50,000-square-foot facility.
TENNESSEE
KNOXVILLE—Ullrich Printing recently upgraded its prepress department with a Heidelberg Prosetter 52 two-page violet platesetter with automatic single cassette loader (SCL).
MEMPHIS—A six-color Komori Lithrone 28 press and a Komori Spica 29 perfector are now running at Paulsen Printing.
VIRGINIA
WINCHESTER—Wisecarver Communications recently installed its third two-color Printmaster QM 46 press from Heidelberg.
