GAM Graphics and Marketing is a family-owned, full-service marketing firm in Sterling, VA. In addition to offset, digital and wide-format printing services, GAM provides their clients with mailing, bindery, fulfillment, marketing and top-notch creative services. For forty years, customers have relied on GAM’s experience and expertise to help them successfully amplify their message and ensure their brand is always presented in the most professional manner.
GAM is known to its more than 1,300 customers in the Virginia region and across the country for its fast turnaround times and high-quality output. However, Nathaniel Grant, GAM’s owner, saw room for growth into high-end retail, customized promotions and packaging, as well as the restaurant and hospitality industries. To make the jump, they needed to find a right-priced technology solution to help their outstanding output stand out even more.
Solution
The RICOH (Booth 1351) Pro C7110X is a powerful, affordable five-station digital color production print system. This device, in addition to providing support for eye-catching clear and white toner, oversized sheet, and specialty media applications, brings 1200 x 4800 dpi with VCSEL image quality. These capabilities, paired with a 90 ppm speed to maintain GAM’s reputation for quick turns, provided an affordable entry point for GAM to begin offering 5-color printing to its customers.
By adding a fifth color station to the mix, Grant could now offer output on dark stock, such as black loyalty cards with white toner, an eye-catching example many traditional presses can’t replicate. In addition, the Pro C7110X added other capabilities to GAM’s arsenal, including the ability to produce decals, oversized brochures and gift cards with security features.
Results
Working with Ricoh, GAM certainly achieved its goal of making inroads to new, challenging business opportunities.
“The Pro C7110X leveled the playing field for us,” says Grant. “Instead of watching complex jobs walk right out the door because we didn’t have the in-house capabilities, we were suddenly able to keep those dollars in-house and grow. It brought more value to our business, as well as our customers’ businesses.”
The gloss effect of the clear toner on the Pro C7110X Series allows PSPs like GAM to create a premium look for store catalogs, business cards, packaging and more — quickly, affordably and all inline. On top of being able to take on new types of business, GAM was able to increase volume with their current customer base. In fact, Grant has been so pleased with the results of his work with Ricoh, he has since placed an order for a RICOH Pro C9110 to help drive even higher volumes while still providing vibrant color to his customers.
