MORTSEL, BELGIUM—4, October 2007—Agfa Graphics announced today that it exceeded all sales goals in all product areas shown at GRAPH EXPO. Agfa’s success at the exhibition indicates that printers are looking for complete prepress and inkjet solutions from a company with innovative technology that enhances their businesses. Customers were clearly interested in advanced software solutions such as :ApogeeX 4.0 and :Delano 3.0 that help graphic communications firms of all sizes become stronger companies and wide format digital printing systems that offer printers the potential to generate increased revenue.
For the third year in a row, demonstrations of Agfa’s patented ThermoFuse™, the technology behind the chemistry-free :Azura and low-chemistry :Amigo plates, were a highlight of the booth. “People cannot get enough of the unique patented technology we call ThermoFuse,” said Susan Wittner, Agfa’s director of marketing, North America. “With a growing base of ThermoFuse customers in North America and the world, printers are using it to enhance their printing operations as well helping to minimize the impact on the environment.”
The new award-winning :Energy Elite plate also received intense interest at the show. :Energy Elite is an innovative thermal plate which combines excellent resolution capabilities with high productivity and unrivalled press durability. :Elite runs up to 500,000 impressions without baking and 1 million when baked. This plate uses an advanced, patented emulsion technology with a wide tolerance for variation in exposure and processing and superb performance with a variety of inks, including UV and hybrid. :Energy Elite was recently a recipient of the 2007 Intertech technology award.
“Just when printers thought there was nothing new in CtP, we have brought to market the latest advancement in digital plates, :Energy Elite. Together with :Azura, :Amigo, :P970, :N91/:N91v and :Lithostar, just to name a few, our plate assortment is rivaled by none, “added Wittner.
The new project management system that was featured at the show, :Delano 3.0, is highlighted by several new features that provide more functionality for prepress and print professionals, including easier uploading of content, automatic conversion of spot colors to CMYK and integrated softproofing. Based both on Agfa’s technological innovations and feedback from existing :Delano customers worldwide, the new solution underlines Agfa’s commitment to offering the most powerful project management solutions.
Inkjet also continues to be a growing and very important part of Agfa’s portfolio. “The interest we saw in inkjet at our booth helped us tell Agfa’s inkjet story fully and completely. That is equally important for us to do in order to give customers the facts they need to make informed decisions,” said Julian Robledo, General Manager, inkjet solutions, North America. “Next month we will continue to present the Agfa inkjet picture at SGIA, further promoting both the technology and Agfa’s leading role in it.”
