Air Motion Systems Launches P3 Web UV System
Latest Technology Accelerates UV Printing Benefits in Web Offset
RIVER FALLS, WI—Dec. 10, 2008—Air Motion Systems, Inc. (AMS), a leading North American manufacturer of high-performance UV curing systems, IR/Thermal Air drying systems and related accessories for the printing industry, recently introduced its third-generation Peak 3 (P3) Web UV(TM) Curing System to the North American market at Graph Expo 2008, where it earned an overwhelmingly positive reaction from web print customers. The company is proud to report that early adopters have awarded the revolutionary in-line system high marks for the outstanding durability, high performance and total UV flexibility that are the hallmarks of AMS-engineered products.
"The P3 Web UV(TM) System provides web printers with state-of-the-art UV curing that eliminates VOCs and cuts thousands of dollars in annual costs by obviating the need for expensive gas-fired ovens, afterburners and chill rollers, as well as through recovery of floor space," says AMS President Stephen Metcalf. "We are extremely gratified by the enthusiastic reception our P3 Web UV(TM) system has earned in such a short time on the market."
Engineered to work seamlessly with all leading web press systems, the P3 Web UV(TM) System combines a host of features pioneered by Air Motion Systems more than eight years ago to make UV printing easier and more efficient than ever. Dual Peak reflector geometry enables high-speed curing at up to 45 percent less energy consumption than comparable UV systems, saving money and making the P3 Web UV(TM) system a sustainable choice for environmentally minded web printers.
"Coupled with a high ROI, the decision to replace older dryers and to introduce new 'green' capabilities in substrates and coating techniques is an easy one for many in the industry," observes AMS Owner and VP Sales Hans Ulland. "We engineered the P3 Web UV(TM) system for rapid, modular installation across any number of positions on the web; the performance feedback we've received from users is impressive." One such user is Allen Jenkins, a web printer from Tennessee, who reports: "At 30,000 impressions per hour and with the P3 Web UV(TM) system operating at just 75 percent power, the curing was perfect."
Flexible, Reliable, Easy-to-Use
Every water-cooled P3 UV lamp module is interchangeable between a series of flexible Web UV cassettes, no matter where they are located on the press, and there is virtually no limit to where the cassettes can be placed. All P3 module components can be changed, checked and cleaned quickly without the use of tools. The modules slide into position in seconds with a guaranteed plug-and-play locking mechanism, and a single operator can reposition a module without calling for assistance, even on the largest formats.
The P3 Web UV(TM) system derives its outstanding reliability from multi-axial motion designed to maximize thermal durability of moving components, "self-healing" shutters that guarantee self-alignment of reflectors, and "in-line sacrificial anodes" that protect against corrosion of internal components.
The P3 Web UV system is now commercially available for easy retrofit on all major web press platforms from leading OEMs in the industry.
