AJS of Warren, NJ, Beta Tests the New imagePRESS C800 Digital Press from Canon Solutions America
MELVILLE, NY—September 29, 2014—Canon Solutions America, a subsidiary of Canon U.S.A., today announced that AJS Business Imaging Solutions. (AJS BIS), a Warren, NJ-based digital solutions and service provider, experienced outstanding results in the first customer testing of the Canon imagePRESS C800 digital press, the newest addition to Canon’s color cut-sheet production portfolio.
Recognized as a resourceful and versatile print service provider, AJS BIS ensures that every job is personalized and meets the evolving needs of the print industry. With clients from the architecture, engineering, pharmaceutical, and legal communities, AJS BIS understands the demands of each vertical market it services and stays at the forefront of the industry with cutting-edge technology and an arsenal of creative solutions.
With an emphasis on keeping each job personal, and maintaining a small operation that’s keen on big delivery, the print shop AJS BIS has formed is equipped with an incisive team and dynamic equipment. As a top print service provider, AJS BIS was intrigued by the prospect of testing the Canon imagePRESS C800, the newest color digital press primed to boost efficiency in both commercial and in-house print environments.
"The new Canon imagePRESS C800 that we have been privileged to beta test has proven to be one of the finest machines that we have ever seen," said Jim La Maire, president of AJS BIS. "It is fast, reliable, flexible, and consistent. This machine is fast in getting the first page out and every page thereafter."
The imagePRESS C800/C700 series boasts several new features that include a compact registration module to help ensure that images are placed in the same location for each sheet, along with an auto correct color tone and enhanced auto gradation adjustment function for multidimensional mixed color calibration. This color digital press is built to work seamlessly with print shops like AJS BIS’s, and can improve the quality of work while enhancing creative solutions.
"The settle-in time for this machine was for all practical purposes non-existent," added Luis Nieves, director of Operations of AJS BIS. "We are extremely impressed with the uptime of this machine considering the variety and volume that we have thrown at it during our testing."
Tracie Sokol, vice president of marketing, Enterprise Services and Solutions, Canon Solutions America, also noted "Working together with customers like AJS BIS is something we take very seriously and find invaluable to our business. With their help and unique insight, we feel even more confident in the capabilities of this press."
Nieves noted that he looks forward to realizing the full potential of the Canon imagePRESS C800 after performing substantial tests of the machine—500,000 impressions in three months. During beta testing, it is typical to not perform regularly scheduled maintenance in order to get a good feel for exactly what the machine can do; La Maire was pleased to see that the Canon imagePRESS C800 "went about 30-40 percent past its scheduled maintenance time."
"We really like the color on the C800 both for its accuracy, detail, and consistency on a page and from page to page," said La Maire, "and I look forward to obtaining a new Canon imagePRESS very soon."
