Allied Printing Services today announces ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management Systems certification after a rigorous third-party audit process. ISO 14001 is an environmental management system standard formulated by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). It is the most respected international standard for environmental management around the globe at present and ranks Allied Printing at the highest level for regulating its environmental impact.
“This was a team effort, a great accomplishment for us. Due to all the environmental initiatives we already have in place, our ISO auditors suggested adding ISO 14001 to our ISO 27001 Information Security Management and long-established ISO 9001 Quality Management certifications would create a strong trio. It was a larger undertaking than we first realized. Getting here took tremendous support and determination. We’re all very proud of this achievement”, stated John Sommers, President & CEO.
What is ISO 14001 Environmental Management System certification?
This is a set of processes and practices that enable an organization to reduce its environmental impacts and increase its operating efficiency. Allied Printing’s management and employees constantly keep the guiding principle “reduce, reuse, recycle” in mind. “It’s an ethic we now work by in our 24/7 facility”, commented Chris Gouveia, Senior Vice President of Operations.
Allied’s Environmental Impact
Many of our clients, especially global corporations, have asked if we are ISO 14001 Environmental certified. They’re interested in partnering with suppliers whose printing processes and procedures have a positive impact on the environment. Allied has already implemented environmental solutions that include the installation of 4,540 solar panels on our rooftop and is currently completing installation of a 700kW fuel cell onsite to cleanly and efficiently produce electricity. The combination of solar panels and the fuel cell will produce approximately 85% of Allied’s electricity. Any excess is exported back to the grid. Our 14001 certification goes hand and hand with these environmental initiatives and many others that we have put into place to reduce our carbon footprint.
