APT Commits to $8 Million in Capital Investments
MOONACHIE, NJ, May 13, 2004--Applied Printing Technologies (APT) announced it is embarking on an $8 million capital improvement plan for its Moonachie, NJ and Elmira, NY facilities. The impetus for the investment is to provide customers with the most advanced end-to-end technologies for both web and sheet-fed applications.
Technologies acquired include:
Komori LS-840-III eight-color, 28x40" sheetfed press--This press is fully loaded with enhancements that include Komori Inline Coating Systems for both UV and aqueous coating applications and sophisticated color management and productivity tools that ensure color consistency throughout the run and deliver faster makeready with less paper waste.
Komori Lithrone LS-640-III six-color, 28x40" Sheetfed press--Loaded with the same enhancement features as the eight-color, but with an Inline Aqueous Coating System.
Agfa ApogeeX workflow System and two Grand Sherpa ink-jet proofers--Intended to streamline prepress workflow, deliver faster throughput and reduce costs for APT customers, these systems offer soft proofing and FM screening capabilities and will be an integral component of the company's color management package.
Rebuild of one of the M1000 Presses at the Elmira, NY facility--The rebuild of the M1000 is part of the company's ongoing program to continually enhance its press capabilities to ensure the delivery of the highest quality long-run commercial print applications.
Addition of JetWeb in-line finishing system to the Elmira, NY facility--As the second in-line installation in the Elmira facility, this new addition will expand the plant's ability to provide sophisticated in-line finishing requirements, including folding, die-cut and gluing capabilities.
"We are very excited about this capital investment as it will better position us to meet the full gamut of our customers' requirements, whether web or sheet-fed," comments Carl S. Grossman, president and CEO of APT. "The addition of such advanced technologies ensures that we continue to deliver on APT's promise to be a total solutions provider of graphic communications. Our focus has always been to provide our customers quality, value and exceptional customer support. Upgrading our capabilities allows us to offer our customers the best in print options, as well as making it possible for APT to expand into new market segments."
