Balfour's Yearbook Facility to Boost Printing Capabilities with Komori GL-840P Offset Press
AUSTIN, Texas—September 30, 2015—Currently regarded as one of the busiest and most cutting-edge printing businesses in the U.S., Balfour today announced a significant advancement in its printing capabilities with the addition of a Komori Lithrone GL-840P press in its Dallas facility, where Balfour produces yearbook and commercial printed products.
"Balfour has taken another huge step in our continued commitment to provide the most brilliant printed products in the country, while also creating more environmentally-friendly processes at our facilities," said Steven Parr, CEO of Balfour.
The Lithrone GL-840P, one of the most innovative "Offset-on-Demand" products from Komori, allows Balfour to streamline lower-volume press runs, such as yearbooks. Features such as automatic plate changing technology help reduce makeready time, while two-sided printing in one pass contributes to an overall shortened printing process. Coupled with a stable printing platform, the result is decidedly faster turnaround times. The GL-840P delivers sharp image color, quality and consistency, and a closed-loop registration system that provides superb registration.
Considered one of the most energy efficient, cost-effective and paper waste-reducing presses available to commercial publishers, the Lithrone GL-840P is a workhorse—allowing two-sided printing at 15,000 sheets per hour.
"The addition of this new press will help us increase capacity," added Parr. "Our print quality will increase, our facilities will be more environmentally-friendly and our customers will be thrilled all the way around."
