Folder Install Opens New Doors for Golden Image

BELLPORT, NY—Golden Image Graphics recently purchased a GUK FA 36 8/6 SAF commercial/miniature folder from G&K–Vijuk International. According to owner David Bernstein, "We chose the FA 36 for its versatility and price point, as well as its proven track record for being a well-built, reliable machine. It has increased our output significantly and opened doors for new opportunities."

Golden Image specializing in foil stamping, embossing, diecutting, custom envelopes and an array of finishing options to complement these services, which includes folding, cutting, collating, saddlestitching and hand assembly.

"We have a wide range of presses to handle everything from a 2x3˝ business card to a 28x40˝ sheet," adds Bernstein.

Seidl's Bindery Trades Two Machines for One
HOUSTON—One of the largest trade binderies in the Southwest, Seidl's Bindery has upgraded its folding department. It installed a Stahlfolder TH 82 4/4/4 continuous-feed, buckle-plate folder with stream delivery, SBP stacker and Level III automation from Heidelberg. It is the first of Seidl's folders to be entirely computer-driven, and replaces two non-Heidelberg machines.

"We're saving at least 50 to 60 percent on makereadies," reports Bill Seidl, CEO. "Heidelberg originally estimated we'd be able to run 16 pages at 11,000 to 12,000 ppm, but what we're actually achieving is more like 16 pages at 15,000 ppm."

According to Seidl, it becomes a one-man operation with the folder's labor-saving SBP stacker. "The forms compress, batch count and stack while the operator loads the continuous feeder, saving time and eliminating repetitive motion."

Spiel Celebrates Its Golden Anniversary

Long Island City, NY—Spiel Associates was founded by Norton Spiel in 1963. At the time, the company only sold drill bits and a nipping machine. He eventually brought in drills, collators, perfect binders and, later, punching equipment. As a trained engineer, he began designing his own machines. From there, Spiel Associates developed the world's first automatic plastic coil binder, The Coilmaster, as well as the Sterling Punchmaster and Digipunch.

Celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, Spiel Associates is now run by Norton Spiel's sons, Michael, Saul and David, who continue to develop, manufacture and distribute bindery equipment, just as their father did.
