Folder/Gluer Install Meets Need for Higher Production Output Requirements
WINSTON-SALEM, NC—Faced with a backlog for producing printed paperboard folding cartons, Americraft Carton decided to add a Diana X 115 folder/gluer from Heidelberg. "Our multifold volume is up, primarily as a result of a recent acquisition," explains Randy Brown, plant manager. "We've basically doubled our output from 10,000 to 15,000 per hour to between 25,000 and 50,000 per hour.
"It wasn't that we couldn't keep up," he clarifies, "but now we can turn everything around within 10 days."
Since the 1980s, Americraft Carton has exhibited steady growth through acquisition. Today, the privately held company operates seven manufacturing plants nationwide for its printed paperboard folding cartons. Markets served include food, health and beauty, tobacco, automotive, household products, apparel, toys and sports equipment.
High-End Printer Adds Gear to Deliver Elegance and New Marketing Options
NEW YORK—Located near Midtown Manhattan, Prestone Printing specializes in the luxury-brand market and is always pushing the envelope. The company recently invested in an MGI Meteor DP8700XL digital press and a JETvarnish 3D digital spot UV coater to increase its creative marketing options.
As Ira Wechsler, Prestone Printing's partner and vice president of operations explains, he had intended to purchase a competitor's version of the devices last year but, after testing various substrates on MGI's equipment, he changed his mind.
"Simply put, since installing the Meteor XL digital press and JETvarnish 3D, we just can't sit still," he remarks. "We are winning projects we wouldn't normally win, and our clients are inspired to enhance the look and feel of their marketing pieces."
