Direct Mail House Adds Binding Gear
ESSEX, VT—The Offset House, a growing direct mail printer that specializes in catalogs, reports making improvements in speed and operational efficiency since the installation of two new saddlestitching machines from Muller Martini: a Prima SB and a BravoPlus.
Goss Holds Forum on Print Finishing
DURHAM, NH—Twenty eight representatives from printing companies throughout the United States and Canada attended a forum on print finishing technology at the Goss International facility here in July.
“This was part of our ongoing commitment to exchanging information about technology and market requirements, and incorporating customer input directly into our product design process,” notes Toby Clarke, vice president for Goss International print finishing operations.
Goss finishing systems, including Pacesetter saddlestitchers, Universal Binder adhesive binders, newspaper packaging systems and Omniflex selective control systems, are engineered and manufactured at the New Hampshire facility. Goss International also represents Ferag products in North America.
Suppliers Come Together at Show
CHICAGO—Muller Martini, Colter & Peterson and MBO America will demonstrate complementing technologies at Graph Expo from October 15-18. The three companies will be highlighting print finishing solutions that can work together to increase productivity and profits for printers and binders.
Visitors to booth #1229 can view a comprehensive 15,000-square-foot representation of finishing technologies that can all perform together to enhance workflow speed, efficiency and overall capabilities. Common walkways within the booth will make it convenient for Graph Expo attendees to move from one area to the next.

Another Folder/Gluer For Southern Shop
MARIETTA, GA—Color Spectrum Network has added its second Bobst folder/gluer in less than nine months. The Alpina II 110 G+S Matic will be Color Spectrum’s fourth Bobst folding line and joins its Media 100 II A2, Alpina 110 A3 and the Mistral 110 A2 CS, which was installed last year.
Gil Bonilla, Color Spectrum Network’s president and CEO, states that the Alpina II will provide his company with the ability to take on a wide range of new work.
“Now there really isn’t any folding task that we can’t take on and easily master. The capabilities of this new folder/gluer give our sales force confidence in the marketplace because we now have the ability to handle just about any degree of complication. It also lets us run many of the jobs we currently run faster.”
Color Spectrum Network’s turnaround goal is seven calendar days from order placement to the customer’s dock.

• In Smyrna, GA, Mail Advertising Systems has broadened its services with the installation of two Muller Martini Bravo-T saddlestitchers and an Acoro A7 perfect binder.
• Capital Color Printing recently added a USA B 26 Stahlfolder to handle more complex folding applications in its bindery. According to Rafael Canete, operating partner at Capital Color, the USA B 26 has doubled capacity at the Morrow, GA-based shop.
• Printing Partners in Indianapolis has upgraded its bindery with two paper cutters—a Perfecta 115 and 92 TVC—as well as a 6.5P stacklift and a SA 110A jogger with air expulsion.
• Primary Color Systems, Irvine, CA, has installed a 42˝ Rollem double-head TR perforating, scoring and slitting system with an airfeed and a double-head roll-away right angle perforating, scoring and slitting system.
• California Lithographers, an all-Heidelberg shop based in Concord, CA, recently increased efficiency with the addition of a Polar 137 XT cutter with Autotrim technology.
