Lone Star Shop Upgrades Bindery
FORT WORTH, TX—Global Group, which recently purchased a Muller Martini BravoPlus saddlestitcher, reports that the advantages of increased production speed were immediately evident.
“It’s fast; we had old equipment and the new equipment is making a difference,” says David McMinn, vice president of production for Global Group.
The company handles a varied assortment of projects including brochures, catalogs and many other products. Global Group’s business strategy is diverse, providing customers with web printing, short-run sheetfed printing and digital print services.
With the BravoPlus in its production arsenal, company execs feel the company can be more responsive to existing customers, as well as expand the opportunities to bring in new business.
Printer Opens Diecutting Department
MIAMI—NuPress of Miami recently installed a Heidelberg Dymatrix 105 CS diecutter and an ECO 105 folder/gluer in its new diecutting department.
The all-Heidelberg general commercial print shop installed the finishing equipment to eliminate outsourcing and expand its client base. With its new department, Nupress can handle the entire printing and finishing cycle for its customers while providing them with the latest information on the status of their jobs at every stage of the process.
The new diecutting department produces materials that require precise, intricate cuts, including presentation folders, press kits and boxes for real estate developers, cruise lines, airlines, cosmetic companies and local tourist attractions. Since the installation of the diecutter and folder/gluer, sales have increased by 30 percent.
“With our most recent installation of Heidelberg equipment, we were looking to achieve complete autonomy on every job,” explains Litsy Pittser, controller at NuPress. “Now that we no longer have to depend on outside vendors, our customer service has improved because we can provide a more accurate estimate of when jobs will be ready.”
In addition to the Dymatrix 105 and the ECO 105, NuPress also houses Heidelberg press and bindery equipment including two Speedmaster CD 102 presses, a four-color GTO press, three Stahlfolders and three Polar cutters.
Exhibitor Reveals Graph Expo Plans
WESTAMPTON, NJ—MBO America has announced some of the new equipment that visitors to its booth at Graph Expo can expect to see in Chicago.
The new Palamides delta 703 automatic banding delivery, with its chip board card inserted on the top and bottom of each stack, will be put to work at the show. More than 600 packages per hour—per stream—can be produced for even two- or three-up jobs with one operator. The Palamides delta 703 will finish signatures from MBO’s B30-S/66 Perfection buckle folder fully automated with Rapidset.
MBO will also demonstrate its new B21 automated buckle folder. Its Rapidset computerized makeready system is now available for the fold rollers, as well as the buckle plates, on the B21. Setting of scrap paper in the calipers is completely eliminated with automatic roller setting calibration. The B21 will produce eight-page signatures on the floor for its exhibition partner Muller Martini’s Presto saddlestitcher.
Another new addition, the B26 Efficiency folder, now available with VIVAS (Vacu-Infeed Vacu Alignment System), operates with a vacuum infeed belt with adjustable pick-up point, replacing the traditional suction wheel and accommodating all types of stock. A vacuum transfer belt replaces the marble rail for flat feeding at higher speeds. A vacuum roller at the beginning of the register table keeps the sheets in constant control while transferring from the vacuum infeed belt.
