Big Texas Bindery Adds Capabilities
HOUSTON—Seidl’s Bindery, Texas’ largest full-service print finishing operation with 130 employees, recently installed a Muller Martini Bolero perfect binder.
“We have doubled our capacity and can now also offer more options to customers,” says Bill Seidl, CEO. “Setup is fast, operation is easy and the machine is very diverse.”
In addition to perfect binding, Seidl’s Bindery provides services such as saddlestitching, Wire-O binding, tipping and attaching, diecutting, folding and gluing.

Packager Expands Finishing Offerings
SANDY HOOK, CT—In a major renovation of its production facility here, Curtis Packaging has added several new finishing systems and a quality lab to strengthen its lineup of technology and services.
Curtis’ latest investment in finishing systems is led by a SBL-1300SEF foil stamper. The system can apply foil effects to sheets as large at 51x37˝.
Two new Omega folder/gluers were installed at Curtis in the spring of 2006: an Omega 110 and an Omega 80. Both systems are fully computerized to speed makeready and production while ensuring high quality.
Curtis’ windowing capabilities are also growing stronger with the arrival of a new Kohmann 950 window machine. The 37˝ system can run two streams, two-up, for improved cost efficiency and responsiveness. A new Kohmann panoramic window attachment will also be fitted to the new window machine.
“Finishing is where the printed sheet becomes a package,” says John Giusto, vice president of manufacturing. “It’s also where you can add extra shelf appeal to the project with techniques like foiling and windowing. That’s why we continually update our finishing workflow.”
Bindery Equipment Supplier Alliance
ST. CROIX FALLS, WI—Brandtjen & Kluge has entered into an agreement to sell and service the CG Machinery line of finishing equipment. CG Machinery represents SBL’s line of half-sheet and 40˝ diecutting, embossing and foil stamping equipment; SBL’s 20˝ and 40˝ in-line folding and gluing equipment; and Datien paper cutters.
Kluge, a well-known name in the postpress print finishing market, has been researching ways to expand its product line.
“Working with CG Machinery is the solution we have been looking for,” says Hank Brandtjen, president of Kluge.
Brandtjen & Kluge continues to manufacture in the United States and sell the Kluge line of foil stamping, embossing and diecutting equipment, as well as its line of folding and gluing presses. In addition, Kluge sells the TXR Series blank separating system.

In Carthage, TX, Complete Printing & Publishing has increased its productivity with the addition of a Muller Martini Presto saddlestitcher.
Roswell Bookbinding, Phoenix, reports the installation of three new pieces of equipment: a 45˝ Prism flat cutter; a custom rebuilt Hunkeler hot-melt tipper; and a Thomson foil stamper and diecutter.
A Heidelberg ST 90 saddlestitcher, Polar jogger and Stahlfolder are now in operation at L&L Printers of Carlsbad, CA.
Ziptek, of Denver, recently installed a Rollem TR double head scoring, perforating, and slitting system along with an airfeed system and a rollaway double head for bi- directional scoring and perforating.
Grange Insurance, Columbus, OH, is now running a Perfecta 76 UC paper cutter at its in-plant facility.
Mead Packaging of Lanett, AL, has installed a new Woodward Model P5468 jogger aerator.
Ginny’s Printing, Austin, TX, has added a Muller Martini Presto saddlestitcher.
