Quad Taps Goss at Graph Expo
SUSSEX, WI—Quad/Graphics will add six new high-productivity Goss finishing systems at various facilities in the United States over the next 12 months. The order, announced during Graph Expo in Chicago last month, includes Pace-setter 2500 saddlestitchers and Universalbinder adhesive binders.
Quad/Graphics has installed more than 100 Pacesetter and Universalbinder finishing systems since 1980.
“We are investing continuously in finishing operations to give our customers the fastest and most efficient technology available, as well as unique opportunities to add value to their printed products,” notes Bill Graushar, vice president of finishing at Quad/Graphics. “We have a long-standing history of working with Pacesetter, Universal- binder systems and the organization behind them to achieve industry leading reliability, net productivity and selective finishing capabilities.”
The new Pacesetter 2500 saddlestitchers at Quad/Graphics will be configured with Ferag forwarding stations, UTR gripper conveyors and SNT-U drum trimmers. Goss International represents Ferag products in North America.
Quad/Graphics has 10 web offset and gravure production facilities throughout the United States and annual revenues of more than $2 billion.
Argus Press Installs Vijuk Folder
NILES, IL—The Argus Press, a division of Nationwide Graphics, recently installed a Vijuk G&K SVA 43 folder with MV-97 RTA outsert unit.
Gene Toepfer, president of The Argus Press, notes the addition of the specialized folding system enhances his company’s capabilities. “The new Vijuk RTA outsert folding system will impact clients in many positive ways,” he says. “First, it will reduce turnaround time due to its high speed and in-line gluing systems. Therefore, clients will receive their projects back quicker.
“Another important feature for clients is that this folding system can handle a broad range of papers, as well as the lightweight pharmaceutical stocks,” Toepfer adds. “With this feature, clients will be able to take advantage of a broader range of stocks for their projects, ultimately enhancing the effectiveness of their project.”
Toepfer says the system creates multiple folds and panels, which expedites production time and maximizes output. He predicts numerous benefits for clients who choose to bundle the service with Argus’ printing, digital printing and fulfillment solutions.
Next Generation Takes Helm at Reindl
GLENDALE, WI—The ownership of Reindl Bindery, based here, has changed hands.
Established in 1978, Reindl Bindery is now owned by David and Steven Reindl. Dale Reindl had been the president, and Kathy Reindl was vice president.
“As an owner of a family owned business, it has always been my dream to be able to have our family business pass on to the next generation,” notes Dale Reindl.
Under the new ownership of the company, David Reindl assumes the president title and Steven is vice president. Dale Reindl will remain as an employee and serve as chairman of the board.
Reindl Bindery is a trade bindery specializing in hard cover binding, cover wrapping and lining along with the mounting of media components such as CD/DVD trays and booklets, perfect binding and mechanical binding.

• A Best Osako Estar saddlestitcher has exceeded the expectations of Bob Rogers Sr., president of Tobay Printing, Copiague, NY.
• Charlotte, NC-based Binding Solutions augmented its trade bindery services with the creation of an index tab production department. To that end, the company installed a Scott 10000 tab cutter, Scott looseleaf reinforcer, Scott tab cutter and a Scott 1800 plastic tab laminator.
• A Muller Martini BravoPlus T stitcher with eight pockets and a cover feeder was installed at GSL Fine Lithographers of Sacramento, CA.
• The Riverside Group, a Rochester, NY-based full-service binding and finishing company, installed an Astronic 220C sewing machine and a GP2 SC-2 semi-automatic case making machine.
• Express Bindery of Buena Park, CA, added a 42˝ Rollem TR die scoring system to its bindery.
• Sky Graphics Printing in South El Monte, CA, has purchased a 28˝ Rollem Champion 990 scoring and perforating system.
• Southern Coating & Nameplate of Little Rock, AR, expanded into tool-free cutting by obtaining a Spartanics Finecut laser cutting system.
