Investment in Automation Improves Productivity Within Folding Department at PA Commercial Shop
ERIE, PA—As one of the oldest commercial printing firms in Northwest Pennsylvania, family owned McCarty Printing is always looking for ways to stay at the top. The company credits a new Stahlfolder KH-82 from Heidelberg for increasing efficiency in its folding department by providing faster setup and more efficient scoring.
The new machine, which replaced an aging Stahlfolder, includes a roll-up, four-directional knife folder for even greater efficiency, and spokesman Don Frank said operators love the user-friendly, on-screen programming, which automatically calculates correct feeding parameters.
Trade Finisher Meets Value-Added Needs With 3D Digital Spot UV Coater
ORLANDO, FL—Continually in search of innovative products to best serve their clients and expand their trade business, The Printer's Edge started to explore options for digital spot UV coating in 2012.
After extensive research, management decided that MGI's JETvarnish 3D digital spot UV coater was the optimal solution for their needs.
"The 3D coating really engages the customer. Folks can't resist touching the sheets and it's hard to keep samples in stock," states Mark Resnick, co-owner of the company.
"The JETvarnish 3D is completely digital and the makeready times and costs are remarkably lower than on our screen printing press.
"This is definitely the future of where spot UV is headed," he adds.
