Printing Industries of America Opens Call for Nominations for Education Awards
PITTSBURGH — August 4, 2016 — Printing Industries of America is opening a call for nominations for outstanding educators, industry trainers and programs in the graphic communications field for the 2016 Education Awards of Excellence and the 2016 Frederick D. Kagy Education Award of Excellence.
"These awards honor the most exemplary educators and programs that go above and beyond to encourage the next generation to immerse themselves in the incredible opportunities provided by our industry," comments Jim Workman, VP of the Printing Industries of America Center for Technology and Research. "Interest in the graphic communications industry continues to grow thanks to the commitment and determination of our educators and schools."
Both award ceremonies will take place at the TAGA 2017 Annual Technical Conference on March 20-22, 2017 in Houston.
The 2016 Printing Industries of America Education Awards of Excellence
Nomination to the Education Award recognizes the individuals preserving the future of our industry through a commitment to quality education.
Honorees of the Education Award find themselves among more than 30 years of some of the most remarkable printing educators and trainers such as Larry Kroll, Thomas Schildgen, and Susan Kinney, among others. Recipients of the award receive an engraved plaque in commemoration of their achievement.
Individuals from any academic level or industry segment are eligible for nomination. Nominees may be of any nationality and do not have to be members of Printing Industries of America.
The 2016 Frederick D. Kagy Education Award of Excellence
Nomination to the Frederick D. Kagy Education Award recognizes an exemplary middle school, high school, or community college graphic communications program dedicated to the advancement of our industry.
Kagy Award recipients join more than 17 years of extraordinary academic programs such as those offered at Waukesha County Technical School and Brighton High School, among others. A commemorative plaque is presented to recipients in addition to $1,000 worth of textbooks published by Printing Industries Press.
Only graphic communications programs offered by middle schools, high schools, or community colleges are eligible for a Kagy Education Award nomination. The school must also have at least one Printing Industries of America member on staff. Nomination of a deserving individual or school for their respective award must be postmarked, faxed or emailed by Oct. 12, 2016.
