MELVILLE, N.Y. — September 26, 2016 — Canon U.S.A., a leader in digital imaging solutions, has announced, along with its parent company, Canon Inc., that it is commemorating the tenth anniversary of the introduction of the Company’s imagePRESS line of digital production presses. Since the introduction of the imagePRESS Series in 2006, the award-winning imagePRESS brand has stood for reliability and productivity, helping Canon customers realize outstanding image quality and improved workflow efficiency. Since the birth of the imagePRESS lineup, Canon has sold approximately 50,000 imagePRESS digital production presses worldwide, with approximately 20,000 sales accounting for the United States alone.
When the imagePRESS brand made its debut, Canon focused on reproducible color. For years, speed and pages-per-minute consumed the focus of the production devices, but with the introduction of the imagePRESS, a revolution began. Reproducing images with lifelike color and razor sharp text, and providing versatile media handling, imagePRESS highlighted a need for accurate image reproduction and showcased the ways print technology can evolve to meet also the growing digital color demands of commercial print and graphic arts markets.
While Canon celebrates the 10th anniversary of imagePRESS, its continuous, market-driven innovation challenges the status quo of what the industry expects in a production printer. Now in 2016, the imagePRESS lineup continues to win the hearts of both customers and industry experts.
In addition to providing Canon with one of its best-selling production printer series, the imagePRESS C800/700, the brand received further applause in the spring of 2016, when the fifth generation of imagePRESS, imagePRESS C10000VP and C8000VP, was recognized with the European Digital Press Association’s (EDP) 2016 “Best cut sheet color A3+ printer over 200,000 A4/month” award. Given to the best products of the year introduced in the European market, the EDP’s prestigious awards aim to assist technology-appliers in their search for the right solution. This award is based heavily on innovation, highlighting the new technical abilities that the imagePRESS C10000VP/C8000VP bring to the end user, such as improved speed, quality, usability and flexibility.
Earlier this month, the imagePRESS C10000VP also received the Printing News Readers’ Choice Top Products Award in the category “Digital Devices” (non-inkjet). The Readers’ Choice Award is based on the opinions of print service providers on what they consider to be the most significant products introduced to the commercial printing industry over the last 15 months, and voting was open to print service providers worldwide.
“From in-plant to commercial print, businesses require a strong suite of digital production offerings that can provide both the flexibility and productivity needed for a wide range of needs,” shares Marco Boer, VP of IT Strategies. “Canon provides one of the broadest portfolios in the industry, and for ten years, the imagePRESS brand, Canon’s flagship in sheetfed toner-based color production, has contributed to Canon’s success in answering the demands of the production industry, helping to strengthen Canon’s position in the market.”
Toyotsugu Kuwamura, executive VP and GM, Business Imaging Solutions Group, Canon U.S.A., notes, “With the tenth anniversary of the imagePRESS Series, Canon is thrilled to celebrate a decade of delivering outstanding digital production technology to our customers. This anniversary is a testament to Canon’s commitment in continued investment in the research and development of our products, thus securing our customers’ investment in Canon solutions, as well as a demonstration of the reliability and enduring quality of one of Canon’s most beloved brand portfolios. We look forward to continuing its legacy of customer-focused innovation.”
