Canon Océ ColorWave 910 Roll-to-Roll Workflow Makes U.S. Debut at SGIA Expo
MELVILLE, N.Y. — September 16, 2016 — Canon U.S.A., a leader in digital imaging solutions, is showcased the latest enhancements to its wide-format print system offerings, the Océ ColorWave 910 roll-to-roll (R2R) workflow, during the esteemed 2016 SGIA Expo industry event. Making its U.S. debut at SGIA Expo in Las Vegas, the Océ ColorWave 910 R2R workflow introduces high-speed and easy roll-to-roll wide-format production.
The next generation Océ ColorWave 910 wide-format printing systems enable print providers to produce inexpensive output in seconds, while offering a workflow that helps increase productivity, lower running costs, and increase flexibility for variable data and short-run print jobs. Resulting from a fruitful collaboration between Canon and SDD of Emst, Netherlands, the latest advancements to the roll-to-roll solution are ideal for producing variable data posters, wrapping paper, wallpaper, labels, and a uniquely wide range of other applications.
"The Océ ColorWave 910 roll-to-roll workflow makes it even easier for graphics print professionals to say 'yes' to their customers," says Toyotsugu Kuwamura, executive VP and GM, Business Imaging Solutions Group, Canon U.S.A. "This easy to implement solution delivers a sweet spot of productivity, application versatility, and quality, while offering print providers and in-plant corporate printers the ability to efficiently and cost-effectively print point-of-purchase materials, short-term posters, specialty applications, and much more."
Instrumental to Canon's new R2R workflow solution are several dynamic and key elements, each providing unprecedented reliability and ease-of-use. During the preflight phase, jobs are initially prepared with the ONYX Thrive workflow software, a scalable print production solution based on Adobe technologies, where users can add cut marks and RIP power to their projects.
A key aspect in the roll-to-roll workflow is the SDD RWM6644 Roll Wind Module, integrated with the Océ ColorWave 910, which together offer fast 12" per second print speed with easy-rolled output. The RWM6644 Roll Wind Module was designed to handle many different kinds of media, and is highly flexible and easily integrated with the new R2R workflow. Users can expect to enhance their capabilities and optimize production with the RWM6644 module, as it is fully capable of being used for winding and unwinding while providing the option to move to laminator or automatic cutter for efficient finishing of printed output.
Roll wound output from the Océ ColorWave 910 is then easily cut to full bleed or down to multiple sheets with the offline Fotoba Dreamcut XLD-170 X/Y cutter, which when combined with the Océ ColorWave wide-format printer, streamlines production of a wide range of application possibilities including wallpaper, floor graphics, wall graphics, signs, banners, canvas, posters, stickers, flyers, window graphics, and more.
