MELVILLE, N.Y. - March 23, 2018 - Canon Solutions America, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Canon U.S.A., Inc., announced that it is showcasing new features and new inks for the Océ Colorado 1640 printer, the company's heralded and first outdoor durable wide format graphic arts roll-to-roll printer, at the ISA Sign Expo 2018, booth #5017.
Considered one of the most significant and important wide format graphic arts products, the Océ Colorado 1640 printer has captured national praise from customers and analysts alike. New levels of automation allow for unattended printing, enabling significant productivity improvements and more efficient labor utilization. In addition, customers have validated the very low ink usage, saving them significantly on their cost of operation for each printed job.
Canon Solutions America, after working extensively with its customers to make enhancements to the dynamic wide format printer, will show new 356B inks, which have been shipping to customers since the beginning of the year. These new inks significantly increase adhesion levels on all common graphics media, including cutting and lamination finishing operations.
"The feedback from our valued customers on these new inks has been extremely positive and showcases our commitment to improving user experience with our flagship wide format product," said Robert Reddy, senior vice president, Large Format Solutions, Operations, Canon Solutions America. "Customer satisfaction is vital, and with the Océ Colorado 1640 printer, we are dedicated to working one-on-one with those end users and developing ways to leverage this great technology and open the door to new business opportunities." "Customers have validated the new inks and are very satisfied with the Océ Colorado 1640 printer's performance and its positive impact to their business with significant ink savings and productivity improvements."
In addition, Canon Solutions America introduces enhanced automation alert features for its UVgel powered Océ Colorado 1640 printer. Similar to its approach with inks, the company's Large Format Solutions division met with its customers utilizing the technology and developed unique enhancements to improve ease-of-use and overall productivity.
Part of this is the addition of mobile alerting for the Océ Colorado 1640 printer. This new feature, as seen in the company's cutsheet products, enables operators to receive alerts on their smartphone devices (Android or iPhone) in the event the machine requires operator attention or when jobs in the queue are completed. These alerts are available on all smartphones in the 'PRISMAsync Remote Control' app.
Users can also expect to receive the following events sent to their mobile device such as:
- Roll empty
- Out of ink
- Job completion
- Printer status
ISA Expo 2018 attendees will also have the opportunity to view demonstrations on Canon's award-winning line of large format products, including the Océ Arizona flatbed series, as well as third party solutions like the Colex cutting solution.
