MELVILLE, N.Y. — September 27, 2016 — Canon U.S.A., a leader in digital imaging solutions, is showcasing — for the first time in the U.S. — Océ's next generation of proofing solutions software for digital production printing, Océ's TrueProof V5, at Graph Expo 16.
Océ TrueProof V5 is positioned to become an industry-leading digital proofing solution for companies around the nation. Customers who have to produce large quantities of statements, direct mailings, books, or brochures are looking for outstanding quality and prices. Therefore, it is imperative that print service providers and digital print shops be well-equipped with precise digital proofing tools in order to help users gain efficiencies, reduce costs and turnaround times, and maximize flexibility to meet customer needs. The highly innovative Océ TrueProof V5 is designed to allow print providers to estimate ink usage and costs, rectify inconsistencies in layout and registration, expedite simultaneous or consecutive digital proof approvals, or generate precise color content proofs, all prior to final production, helping to ensure outstanding quality, low cost and integrity of the final printed product.
Océ TrueProof V5 is a WYSIWYG software proofing tool that allows for a pixel-exact preview of applications, registration accuracy of retro/verso printing in semi-transparent preview, a superimposing of preprinted forms to check for imprint alignment, and data integrity throughout the print workflow, including RIP. It also allows print providers to easily determine color coverage and calculate ink usage, an important economic feature whenever transparency of costs and calculation is vital.
The new Océ TrueProof V5 is designed to shorten the time needed for generating and approving new applications with its ability for proofing both soft and hard copy color proofs. The optional hard copy proofing module allows customers to create content proofs for automated output to a Canon imagePROGRAF 6450 plotter device purchased separately; while the optional new soft-proof module, is a combination of TrueProof V5 soft-proofing software with a calibrated monitor housed in a light booth used to support the design and prepress process. The soft proofing can also be used as a color reference guide for adjusting color before the production run and for remote customer acceptance. Océ TrueProof simulates production printers like the Océ ColorStream series, Océ ImageStream series, Océ JetStream, Océ VarioPrint 5000, and VarioStream 4,000, 7000, 8000 and 9000 devices.
With digital full-color printing advancing into the graphic arts, packaging, and one-to-one marketing, the industry is moving towards on-demand ordering of smaller quantities, more frequently. Time spent on setup, order management, and error recovery can significantly increase as run-lengths decrease. Print providers need to minimize risk and increase efficiencies. Océ TrueProof v5 software proofing solution is designed to make it possible for users to save costs related to set-up, down-times, consumables, labor and time to produce proofs prior to production printing.
"With an increased demand in full-color digital printing and print runs becoming shorter, there is little margin for error. The Océ TrueProof V5 digital hard and soft-proofing solution is designed to help users discover mistakes made during the file preparation process prior to production, while assuring printer buyers that they will receive the printed product they are expecting," says Toyotsugu Kuwamura, executive VP and GM, Business Imaging Solutions Group, Canon U.S.A. "Canon is poised to be a leader in an industry that continues to reinvent itself with more complex applications and color needs than ever before."
