The North American Carbon Balanced Printer program is proud to announce that it has signed its first partner printer. Based in Salt Lake City, Utah, Hudson Printing has joined the Carbon Balanced Printer program to further reduce its impact on the environment, as well as the impact of its customers.
The Carbon Balanced Printer program offers its partner printers the opportunity to carbon balance their paper and print services. Members of the program are printers that have measured their own carbon footprint, then offset those emissions with the global conservation group World Land Trust to become a certified Carbon Balanced Printer.
World Land Trust uses funds raised through the program to protect and restore threatened natural habitats in Vietnam, Mexico, Ecuador and Guatemala. By protecting these areas of high biodiversity and the species within them, World Land Trust preserves important ecosystems while preventing the release of CO2 into the atmosphere through deforestation and degradation.
The amount of carbon offset by Hudson is equivalent to the preservation of 834,013 m2 of land, or the area covered by 156 NFL football fields.
“At Hudson Printing, we believe in the power of print”, says CEO and owner Paul Hudson. “We also acknowledge that our industry is resource intensive and that our choices as a business make a difference. As such, we have been working hard on our LOOP sustainability initiative to reuse, recycle, and partner with the most responsible suppliers in the industry.”
“Taking responsibility for our carbon impact was the natural next step and we are thrilled to be part of the new Carbon Balanced Printer program in North America,” he continues. “Sustainability is important to the people at Hudson and important to our customers. While we work to reduce our carbon impact, we are delighted that our offset commitment supports the conservation efforts of World Land Trust.”
As part of the Carbon Balanced Print and Paper program, companies can use the World Land Trust logo on their print and paper to communicate their support and corporate responsibility. The total amount of CO2 balanced and land area preserved is also stated on a unique certificate, which can be used for environmental reporting and marketing purposes.
