PRINTING United Alliance recognized Bob Deveau, owner of Cameron Advertising, for his more than 60 years of service to the print industry yesterday.
Deveau got his start in the 1950s with Middleton Group and one of their original owners, Jim Middleton, before joining Cameron Advertising. He purchased the company in late 1959, when the original owner passed away. And he became sole owner in the late 1970s, which is when he had the freedom to take the company to new heights.
Under Deveau’s leadership, the company has stayed at the forefront of technology, investing in screen printing, early one- and two-color flatbeds, and later digital presses — a trend continued to this day, with the latest press installed just a few weeks ago.
His son, Dan, noted, “His integrity in the industry is second to none, and you’d be hard pressed to find people in this small print world to say anything bad about Bob Deveau — maybe he was a hard ass, always a great competitor, but honest, hard working, and willing to help.” He laughed, “He also paid his bills.”
