Cenveo Shuts Down Trio of Plants
STAMFORD, CT—The start of the new year for Cenveo Inc. was accompanied by a round of facility closings at three locations. Cenveo is closing printing plants in Baltimore, Charlottesville, VA, and Omaha, NE, resulting in the loss of nearly 300 employees in total.
Cenveo filed notice with the state of Maryland that it will close down its Baltimore plant by Feb. 26, according to the Baltimore Business Journal. The closure will impact 115 employees there.
The former LexisNexis plant in Charlottesville, obtained by Cenveo in 2007 as part of its acquisition of Cadmus Communications, closed in early January, the Charlottesville Daily Progress reported. That facility employed 61.
A third plant, a branch of specialty label and paper products company Nashua Corp., will be closed at an unspecified date, according to the Omaha World-Herald. That facility has roughly 120 workers. Cenveo acquired Nashua Corp. in 2009.
