CGS to Feature Record Number of New Technologies at PRINT 13
MINNEAPOLIS—September 3, 2013—At PRINT 13, CGS will feature an unprecedented number of innovative technologies for the printing, packaging, and brand communications industries. At Booth 2644, the company will showcase two products receiving the coveted InterTech Technology Award, plus a Must See 'Ems winner, and the entire ORIS color management family of software, media, and wide-format inks.
“Without question, this is a remarkable year—and a remarkable event—for CGS,” said CEO Trevor Haworth. “We have received industry recognition multiple times in the past, but this year’s show is a record for us, with three acknowledgements of our commitment to innovation. Just as CGS transformed industry understanding of contract color proofing with ORIS, so now we are doing the same for packaging ideation, collaborative workflow, and cloud-based color management.
“Frankly, there’s no easy way to describe these developments in detail,” he continued. “I encourage everyone in the graphic arts—from brand owners to print and packaging producers—to visit the booth and see for themselves.”
PRINT 13, held only every four years at Chicago’s McCormick Center, is the biggest graphic arts industry event in North America.
Featured Products
A GASC Must See 'Ems award was won by IC3D Suite, the world’s first software application for Real-Time 3D packaging visualization, ideation, and design. The program dramatically simplifies the creation of packaging products of all kinds—including bottles, flexible packages, cartons, bags, plastic containers, cans, and more. Developer Creative Edge Software chose CGS as the launch partner and the PRINT 13 event will be the worldwide premier of the product. “IC3D Suite is a landmark event, not just for packaging designers and brand owners, but for packaging printers and even general printers looking to expand their services,” Haworth noted. “Before now, the packaging ideation process was lengthy and expensive. IC3D changes that formula completely.”
The Printing Industries of America has also recognized CGS innovation—twice. The Aproove system received one of this year’s InterTech Technology Awards. The secure online collaboration system for brand owners, agencies, and printers impressed the panel of judges. “[They] were impressed with how easy Aproove’s solution for reviewing and approving proofs was to use,” said Dr. Mark Bohan, Printing Industries of America vice president of technology and research. “They liked that it was non-proprietary, allowing it to be used with existing workflow solutions, and that it was scalable, supporting an unlimited number of users.”
Finally, the latest edition of CGS’ color management family—ORIS Lynx—also received an InterTech Award. This unique, cloud-based system uses the core technology found in ORIS Color Tuner and ORIS Press Matcher (which both won InterTech Awards in the past), but does so via a secure Internet client/server connection. It is the only cloud-based color management solution to generate both device link and ICC profiles to control the quality and consistency of CMYK or RGB output on a wide range of devices. The InterTech judges appreciated the fact that ORIS Lynx’s SaaS-based solution made it easier for small and medium sized printers to achieve effective color control within their processes.
