Chroma Graphics Doubles Digital Print Revenue With iGen4 EXP Press
UPPER MARLBORO, MD—Nov. 11, 2010—Just two months after installing a Xerox iGen4 EXP digital color press, Maryland-based Chroma Graphics doubled its digital print revenue.
The commercial print shop was the first worldwide install of the new press, which delivers up to 50 percent more impressions per page. The expanded 14.33x26" sheet size allows Chroma Graphics to produce more full-color, personalized mailers and has fueled growth in its traditional offset business.
“The larger sheet size and exceptional print quality allowed us to immediately tap new customers looking for high-impact, custom materials. It also gave our existing offset customers a way to supplement their longer runs with smaller, personalized jobs,” said Rusty Coolidge, president, Chroma Graphics. “This new technology is driving 25 percent growth in our overall print business.”
Using the iGen4 EXP press and uDirect software from XMPie, A Xerox Co., Chroma Graphics is producing customized direct mail pieces ranging from 18,000 personalized book offers for a university, to a smaller run of customized postcards to advertise discounts for active casino gamers. With the press and software in place, the company is also eyeing new business opportunities in the healthcare market, where personalized patient information is critical in marketing efforts.
Chroma Graphics began as a prepress operation and while it has expanded to a full-service print provider, color matching and sharp detail remains a hallmark. “The image quality of the iGen4 EXP is unbelievable – when we show a customer a sample, it pulls them away from a competitor that isn’t using this technology,” Coolidge said.
Chroma Graphics took advantage of a variety of business development support from Xerox to help grow its business and target new markets. A Xerox Business Development Consultant provided sales training workshops and the company used Xerox ProfitAccelerator “Vertical Marketing Binders” and “Creating Relevant Direct Mail” kits to expand its client base and application offerings.
