Classic Litho Expects to Increase Productivity by 60 Percent with New Speedmaster CD 102

KENNESAW, Ga.—February 4, 2016—When Classic Litho and Design, from Torrance, California, approached Heidelberg for a solution to maximize efficiencies and reduce waste and labor costs, a Speedmaster CD 102-6+L with X-Package and UV technology was the perfect fit for the full service commercial printer.

After evaluating its two current presses, it was determined that investing in a new press would provide long-lasting benefits such as faster turnaround times, increased capacity and a competitive advantage to keep up with its current clients’ fast-paced demands.

The new Speedmaster CD 102-X will replace an older Speedmaster SM 74. “This press will allow us to decrease makeready times and run faster print speeds,” said Masoud Nikravan, vice president, Classic Litho and Design. “With higher throughput and less downtime, we expect to increase our productivity by up to 60 percent.”

Higher Speeds, Lower Costs
The newly enhanced Speedmaster CD 102 with X-Package is the best-selling press in the 70x100 format with more CD 102 units installed than any other model worldwide. With an annual capacity of around 40 million sheets, the Speedmaster CD 102-X increases productivity from between 25 percent to 50 percent over older generation CD 102s and new competitive presses.

“We currently run 2 shifts on our existing CD 102 and 1 to 2 shifts on our SM 74,” said Firouzeh Nikravan, president, Classic Litho and Design. “With the addition of the new press, we will free up more press hours, enabling us to deliver a higher level of service to our current clients while providing our sales team the proper tools to set their sights on continued growth. It’s a win-win for everyone!”

An Investment for the Future
To support business growth, the shop also added DryStar UV to the new press. The addition of UV technology was needed to facilitate rapidly expanding packaging requirements and assist the shop in achieving its future-oriented goals.
