Newsweb Purchases Jetleader 1500 Inkjet Web Press from TKS
CHICAGO/IRVING, TX—July 19, 2012—Newsweb Corp. in Chicago has signed a letter of intent to acquire the TKS Jetleader 1500 digital inkjet press that was in operation on the manufacturer’s stand at drupa 2012. The press printed a sample of the The Wall Street Journal live at drupa, as well as other products including tabloid and book formats.
“We have been looking at digital inkjet technology for years, but did not feel it was where we wanted it to be,” said Rodd Winscott, president of Newsweb’s printing division. “After drupa, we knew this was the machine to take our printing to a new level and create new business opportunities. TKS has a superb reputation for offset presses and we know this will carry over to its Jetleader product line.”
According to its website, Newsweb is a premier cold web offset printing company located in the heart of Chicago's Lincoln Park. It has worked with many of the city’s most noteworthy independent publishers and alternative media for over 40 years.
“The Jetleader 1500 will be used to print smaller runs that are now on its offset press as well as going after new business including books and catalogs. Newsweb will explore new markets using the variable-data capabilities of the Jetleader. We are very happy to have Newsweb join our North American family of customers,” added Nobuyuki Nakajima, president of TKS (USA).
“We are excited to be working with Newsweb. It has a great reputation in its market and wants to enjoy the benefits of offset and inkjet printing. TKS spent the last several years bringing the Jetleader to market and having a North American showplace is very important to prove the technology and business model, as well as to further work with paper and ink suppliers in a more central location,” noted Yoshikazu Shiba, president and CEO of TKS Ltd.
