Collins Increases Unmanned Production to 20 Hours Per Week with Versafire CP
KENNESAW, Ga. - January 18, 2018 - Months after installation, Collins Printing of Atlanta, is still reaping the benefits of high productivity and improved uptime because of their Versafire CP from Heidelberg.
Stack Up, Push the Button, and Go Home
After using technology from another manufacturer, Collins Printing desired to find a digital press that would be extremely productive with minimal jams. Now with the Versafire CP, Collins Printing is able to print reliably and confidently at speeds up to 130 ppm.
“If we were to hit 50,000 or 70,000 impressions a month with competitive technology, our digital press was certain to break down or lose quality,” said David Collins Jr., general manager of Collins Printing. “We’ve had the machine in here for about 3 months and our capabilities to do longer digital runs are growing already.”
Equipped with an extra-long paper path, the Versafire CP impresses with its exceptionally smooth material flow at high print speeds and its precise print quality - even on coated or thicker paper. Being highly automated, the Versafire CP makes it possible to complete tasks not only more easily, but also with greater speed, cost efficiency and reliability.
“We really wanted a press that we could load, push the button, and go home,” said Collins. “With the Versafire CP, we can do that. The press goes through about 20 hours of unmanned production time per week, and we never worry about there being any jams. When we arrive in the morning, we know that our work is complete.”
Customers Have More Options
The Versafire CP runs alongside Prinect workflow, a Prosetter 52, a Speedmaster PM 52-4, and high speed POLAR N 78 cutter. As a growing company, Collins Printing strives to have the most reliable machines to maintain its customers trust and continue to grow the customer base. Collins foresees Heidelberg being very involved in the future of the company.
“We have an extremely strong relationship with Heidelberg,” said Collins. “As we continue to grow, I see more and more Heidelberg equipment coming into our shop.”
