ROLLING MEADOWS, Ill.—May 26, 2015—Komori America, a premier manufacturer of printing solutions, today announced that Colonial Printing, a commercial sheetfed printer and a division of Integrity Graphics, has installed a six-color Lithrone G40 (GL640) with H-UV at its Warwick, Rhode Island, facility. The GL640 offers such advanced automation and fast job cycle time that the company was able to retire two older presses after the installation of the new press. With a customer base that ranges from high-end advertising and design agencies to corporate marketing departments and universities, Colonial Printing is looking forward to expanding its print offerings with the ability to deliver higher-quality color, shorter runs and value-added coatings that the GL640 equipped with Komori’s proprietary H-UV system makes possible.
"Having the H-UV system on this press allows us to offer a wide range of special services that we are very excited about," said Ken Menna, vice president of Colonial Printing. "For example, we can now offer spot UV, reticulating varnishes and UV inks and coatings that elevate our print applications to a whole new level of quality. Another deciding factor in purchasing the GL640 with H-UV was its ability to print so effectively on uncoated stock. With the H-UV system, the finished product on uncoated stock is amazing. The ink cures on the surface of the substrate and the application is so vibrant it looks like the ink is still wet. Having this capability will allow us to expand into high-end commercial work in industries like fashion, jewelry and packaging."
The company reports the ability of the press to get to makeready in as little as 20 sheets and then go from the press directly to bindery is providing a speed to market that today’s customers require. Additionally, this efficiency results in a significant reduction in overall waste, important to Colonial Printing as it encompasses everything it can do to be sustainable and "green."
"Colonial Printing has been part of the Komori family of customers for nearly 20 years," noted Jacki Hudmon, senior vice president of sales for Komori America. "We were thrilled when it chose to install the new press with the our H-UV system because we knew it would support the company’s desire to expand into new markets while still delivering improved operational efficiency and job turnaround times. Combining the automation of the GL640 with the value added capabilities of the H-UV system simply creates the perfect solution."
