Colter & Peterson, Komori Form Sales Partnership in Time for PRINT 13
PATERSON, NJ—September 3, 2013—Colter & Peterson (C&P) and Komori America announced today they have agreed to a strategic sales partnership where C&P’s ancillary print finishing equipment will be marketed and sold as part of the KomoriKare program in the United States. This agreement reconnects the two companies as the Komori organization sold C&P equipment via multiple dealers throughout the United States in the 1990s until 2002.
Products from C&P, the largest independent distributor of paper cutters and paper handling equipment in North America, include the highly successful Saber and Prism brand lines of paper cutters. Material handling equipment for loading and unloading, including joggers, sorters and automatic loading/unloading equipment also is part of the agreement. Komori America, a premier manufacturer of sheetfed and web offset printing presses, will demonstrate a new Saber 45˝ X15 cutter in its booth (1251) at PRINT 13 in Chicago from September 8-12.
The KomoriKare program offers an entire line of value-added support, including service programs, press efficiency audits, ancillary equipment and consumables, to help print providers streamline operations with turnkey solutions. This philosophy is in step with C&P’s mindset to deliver high quality finishing products that meet or exceed today’s back-end production workflow demands in the marketplace, said Bruce Peterson, president of Colter & Peterson.
“For more than 80 years, C&P has serviced the graphic arts and paper industries," noted Peterson. "Through the sale of our various Microcut systems, we have become the largest supplier of retrofit computers for paper cutters in the world. Our Prism and Saber paper cutters are built with the best and newest technology available. Komori America has a well-deserved reputation in the marketplace and I’m excited that we have rekindled our relationship with them. Carl Lewis headed Komori West back then and had previously owned Microcut, the computerized control system we use with our paper cutters.”
Kosh Miyao, president and COO of Komori America, also added “We are excited to renew our partnership with Colter & Peterson, and have the opportunity to offer our customers high quality finishing equipment that is a perfect marriage of technology with their Komori presses.”
The Saber line of precision paper cutters ranges from a 37˝ Saber X15 up to a 126˝ XXL used for large-format cutting. State-of-the-art technology benefits include the popular time-saving Microcut system, which has been involved in more than 30,000 installations. It automates the ability for the user to store cutting sequences so the back gauge automatically positions itself for each individual cut.
The 45˝ Saber X15 to be demonstrated in the Komori America Corporation booth at PRINT 13 is a heavy duty and robust machine manufactured to ISO-9001 standards. It offers automatic knife adjustment, a new hydraulic system and cut optimization, a Microcut 15-inch touch screen and the availability of automatic waste removal.
The Prism line includes several models from the space-saving 27˝ PC model up to the standard 54˝ unit. Featuring an impressive durable design with Microcut 12˝ touchscreen controls, Prism paper cutters deliver superior reliability and offer the capability for programs to be uploaded from a network or with a USB device using CIP 3/4 files. No additional hardware or software is necessary.
