Commercial Communications, Inc. Selects Océ Duplex Printing Solution
Largest Midwestern electronic printer anticipates up to six million images per month
BOCA RATON, FL—March 13, 2007—Océ (NASDAQ: OCENY), a global leader in digital document management and delivery solutions, announces that the Midwest’s largest electronic print shop, Commercial Communications, Inc. (CCI), has installed the award-winning Océ VarioPrint 6250 digital duplex printer. The Océ VarioPrint 6250 offers many capabilities that will help CCI achieve productivity and quality goals, and capture more revenue.
According to CCI Vice President of Operations, Steve Henck, CCI was attracted by the “pure productivity” of the Océ VarioPrint 6250. Publications like directories, service manuals and training guides make up 80 percent of CCI jobs, and Henck expects to run up to six million images a month on the Océ VarioPrint 6250. The output quality of the Océ solution was also very important. “Ninety percent of our work is duplex, and we do a lot of operator manuals with halftones, solids and large screens,” Henck noted. “The system’s 12”x19” image size lets us run covers we couldn’t do given the 11”x17” limit on our older printers.” CCI expects to achieve a three-to-one replacement of older cut sheet systems with the Océ VarioPrint 6250.
“The system’s eight identical paper drawers give us a more job flexibility and more continuous production,” Henck added. “We have a lot of jobs that require tab-holed stock, color inserts, and other media, but on older systems, our productivity was limited by the number of drawers. With the extra drawers on the 6250, we can load and run the current job longer and even set up next job.” With support for lighter stock, coated, and many other media, the Océ VarioPrint 6250 gives CCI more flexibility and allows them to produce these specialty jobs more efficiently.
Founded in 1982, family-owned CCI is a leader in print-on-demand and electronic information delivery. Headquartered in Hartland, Wisconsin, CCI has 250 employees and an additional production facility in Arizona. Other Océ solutions in use at CCI include the Océ VarioStream 9230 and Océ VarioStream 7400 Twin units for high volume highlight color, along with Océ PRISMAproduction POD workflow automating software.
The Océ VarioPrint 6250 is the world’s most productive digital duplex cut-sheet printing system. Featuring groundbreaking Océ Gemini Instant Duplex technology, the Océ VarioPrint 6250 delivers breakthrough performance at 250 letter-, 160 legal- and 132 ledger-size duplex prints per minute, making it up to 70 percent more productive than any other printer in its class.
The new system will eliminate file-processing issues encountered with their older cut-sheet systems. “Some files run up to 1,000 pages, so processing can be significant,” said Henck. “With the more robust controller on the 6250, we can add automation to file processing for more complex jobs.”
“We value our relationship with CCI, and we are pleased to once again provide a solution that helps them gain greater productivity and deliver best-in-class results for their own customers,” said Joyce Virnich, Vice President of Marketing for Océ North America, Commercial Printing Division. “The Océ VarioPrint 6250 has been designed to help customers achieve the breakthrough performance that makes them more competitive and successful.”
